Yeah, but he would be snatched up on waivers before we would get him. It's not a bad deal, but it would look pretty bad if he continues his slump. Thing is, Loshe's value is at an all-time high and he'll probably take us to the woodshed in arbitration again this year.

Lohse is coming off one of his best starts in years, maybe its a fluke but I like his YOUNG arm, Radke won't be around for ever and I'm not ready to give up on Lohshy. True he is not a cy canidate but he is a good 4th or 5th guy. Boone is a roid head and on the downside of his career, sure i'd take him but I wouldn't give up much for him.

Boone is capable of a comeback though, Lohse will never be that pitcher everyone hoped for. He will be that 4-5 starter on most teams.

For the money though and for the future Boone is not a great pickup. If we can pick him up off waivers and not have to give him and arm and a leg then why not pick him up.

Yeah well Lohse stunk again tonight! I watched him closely and after he gave up the single to go down 4-1 his body language was so negative!! If I were his teammate I would pick up on that on get upset. He needs to go, you guys are welcome to your opinion... thats mine.

I wouldn't do that deal. I think Boone is done & as someone mentioned a "roid head". Lohse isn't great, but he's okay, he has just as many wins as our two best starters do this season. You can never have too much pitching.

Yeah, I really have mixed feelings about the trade because of the roid angle.

But, I still think if it was Loshe for Boone, straight up, and the M's were willing to pick up a decent chunk of Boone's salary, then I'd make the deal.

It's starting to look like Loshe isn't going to be here next year anyway and I wouldn't mind seeing us use that five-spot for one of the young guys in the minors. I don't think by any means that Loshe has been BAD, just not good enought to not try to use him to improve your team, if someone is willing to give up a good player for him.

No bubbles burst. The Indians are said to be seeking a big name player though to give them a good right handed bat and if they make that pickup I would start having doubts about the Twins being able to stay ahead of them for the Wildcard. If the Twins pickup someone and preferably not Boone, all my doubts would leave(as long as the pickup was a plus not a minus).

Pier, I don't doubt you at all ... just curious what your sources are. Seems like you might be getting some "inside information" since Ryan has told the press that a deal for Boone is being considered.

I heard Ryan on KFAN on the Hartman show about 2 weeks ago and he said they were not interested in Boone. That was 2 weeks ago, but I don't see how you go from not interested to trading a starting pitcher. Ryan basically said his numbers were better when they weren't testing for steroids, and he is getting old.

Good info TN, I hadn't heard that. That leads me to believe that he's not ruling out interest on the off-chance that he's dropped in our laps for virtually free - eliminating an awkward situation.

Peter Gammons said on baseball tonight that the Twins wouldn't go after Boone unless he was released and the Mariners picked up a huge part of his salary. I don't think it will be happening... Maybe Mike Schmidt is available??? or the G man... Gary Gaetti!!

I hope so, why pick him up now? yes we need infield help, but lets wait. I would think randa would be a better fit. if the twins do nothing, or pick up some has been , like the last couple years, screw them.

I am done watching the Twins for the year if they dont pick someone up and they go into any sort of slide. Just ruins all fun if they dont even make an attempt at a big playoff run. We have the team to do it with all the farm system players to fill in. Why not try now? Teams dont make a playoff run if they are trying to rebuild. We dont have rebuilding to do, we have the players right now. They should realize our depth at positions is the best in the whole league. But the depth is just fill in talent. If a third base player goes down we have the fill in to help out. But we cant field a whole team of fill in players. We need those Joe Nathans, and Shannon Stewarts.

I would rather watch the Twins make a push for the championship, than sit around hearing about how they could have done things different.

Boone is just a band aid to help out. Not worth the millions he is owed. I wouldn't mind if we pick him up off waivers and pay him minimum salary. He is past his prime, and like I said in another post is it coincidental that his production has dropped once the steroid problem came into light? You can't put $$ for team chemistry and right now this team has lost it. The management has picked apart this team. I'm sure Ryan knows how important chemistry is, but it comes back to what Stingy Pohlad says about payroll budget. I too am getting frustrated with the play and inconsistency. Our defense was once our forte', but now is a liability. I think our pitchers don't have the confidence that is behind them, thus they might be trying to do too much.

I hope nobody gets hurt jumping off the bandwagon, and if you decide to do so ... well, we won't miss ya.

You would never realize by reading these posts that if the season ended today, the Twins would be in the playoffs. Or that only seven teams in all of baseball have a better record than they do. Or, more importantly, that this team is ahead of the pace it set last year.

This is the three-time defending AL Central Champions boys. Those who find this season so irritating must have been flying off the bandwago from 1992-2000, when we did all we could do to not LOSE 100 games.

I would like to see a significant move as well, but that doesn't mean I'm going to pull the plug on the season, or grow disgruntled with a squad that, because of the economics of baseball, has to do much more to succeed than large market teams. Part of the reason I like this team is that they do it right - with talent they develop. Other teams have different recipes for success. The Twins recipe is different, and solid enought that others teams now emmulate it. If you don't like it, that's your perrogative. Go cheer for the Yankees.
