What's everyone thinking for this weekend????

Recommended Posts

I'm going out on West Battle in Ottertail County. It's a very frustrating lake, the fish are extremely finiky. But, it's the best one in the immediate area, so that's where I'll be.

I'm gonna try just about eveything, small to big, shallow to deep, and cross my fingers and expect the best.

You should see some nice fish on MilleLacs! Good luck! I won't be out this opener, I have other committments. If I was going out I would be going to Tonka or Sugar about 5am. Sugar is the home of my best Opener with a 3 fish day! Water temps that year were up to 72 degrees! The fish were really going.

Hey Hoggs - where are you in Andover? I live 2 blocks north of the Round Barn. Typically make solo runs at odd hours.

I'm riding the Tour de Cure for the American Diabetes Association on Saturday, but I do have a morning off next week to go fishing. Though it would be nice to get up to Tonka, but I'm going to try our local Lake Zumbro. The DNR has been stocking since 1994 and it doesn't get targeted at all for muskies and you don't hear of too many people catching them. Its a tough nut to crack, but I think with some hard work and persistence I will be rewarded....eventually.

Hitting a Forest Lake (N. Metro) about 4:30 in the morning Saturday, and will make my decision for Sunday after that outing.

Good Luck all...

Hey Freak I'm in Flood in the Ghetto (Coon Rapids) nice and close to Andover...

Man, I need to bring a freaking boat down here. I live in Eden Prairie, but the boat I use is in Otter Tail, so I miss out on the metro action, which is hard to beat.

I've been trying to get it done for a couple years, this year it's happening. I think I found somewhere to keep it that isn't too far from home.

Waltinator, are you serious? Have you been out there on musky opener? Or a hot summer day for that matter...it's absolutely nuts...and its the second biggest lake this side of the metro area. So I'd disagree on both counts.

Superfish - what are your thoughts on Harriet? I am planning on being out there tomorrow am. I usually see fish every time out there, but usually get only follows at the most. Lost about a 35" out there last November at the boat. I just usually follow the weedline throwing the usual arsenal, but picked up a couple new lures last night. Good sized bass in there.

Yeah I get a lot of follows on harriet as well. I usaully from the launch then go towards teh beach. I like to fish the inside weedline (right next to shore) and then work my way over the milfoil. I like to throw topwaters over the weeds. I would probably do better if I worked the outside weedline with bucktails or something.

I really like harriet, but the only problem I have is my trolling motor doesn't really have the power to let me cover a lot of water. If the wind picks up at all I'm stuck. I think that has a lot to do with me sticking closer to shore then maybe I should.

T man I agree. The traffic on Waconia has quadrupled in the last 5 years, but the lake has some great structure and some spectacular fish. It's like Tonka a person has to deal with the chaos, it's metro fishing.

I'll be at harriet as well, hoping to land my first ski'. Tryed last year to no avail. Just look for the smallest boat on the water... (although if things are really bad, i will be going after some bass. Was bowfishing the other day and spotted some real beauties in shallow along with a 40+ inch ski)

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
