Great idea!

Those of you who crappie fish with the todays tackle bobbers know that it does not take much of the yellow foam to keep the presentation floating. My great idea would be have just the red part for sale with some glue to glue on the excess foam. I use less than half of the foam on each bobber for my presentaions, and it would save me some money and be resourceful, but the trick is convincing Todays tackle to market this. (probably be a money loser for them but they would have happy customers grin.gif).

msm1018, What size Ice Buster Bobber do you fish with, and what size jig? Some times when I use the 3" Ice Buster with a 1/16 oz. jig and bait I don't have to trim anything off. But other times I do trim quite a bit. I'm glad you are using the Best Ice Fishing Bobber on the market!!! It's kind of like sitting in an easy chair with your feet up,drink holder, TV, verses sitting on a frozen cold steel chair!:)

I only started this year to use the ice buster bobber. I will not likely purchase nor use any other style bobber for ice fishing any time soon. I am a convert. Good show.

Am I crazy or is it just me?

Sometimes all I have left after trimming is the red thing and a thin bit of foam.

Maybe if it was built smaller, like the red thing was thinner and the foam was smaller also.

Is there only two sizes of the Ice Buster?

By the way the Wave Buster is nice on open water also.

I use a toothpick to add foam on my Ice Buster if needed. Works good for several trips out. I love the Ice Busters and Wave Busters for open water fishing.

Another tip is to use your wife/girlfriends red or orange nail polish and apply it to the top of your Ice Buster. This really helps you see it when getting dark etc. Also the old glow tube stuck in the top works great.

I fished with HoleHopper this past weekend and he had a setup that was really working well for my son. He actually dips round toothpicks in jig paint on one end. Then he inserts in the foam end of the ice buster which basically sinks the bobber so that only the painted end of the toothpick was above the water line.

This worked great on very finicky biting crappies and it really helped my son make a quicker decision on when to set the hook.

Not my idea but something I'll be dropping into the tackle box for the future.

I let myself get outfished by Ice Buster bobbers two seasons ago on LOW and that will never happen again. They are a great product!

Thanks for the great comments! Eventually I'd like to make Sleeves on top of the Ice Buster Bobbers that would glow in the dark. It will take some time and money though! If I made a smaller Ice Buster Bobber it would be very hard to extrude the foam (in a smaller Dia.) and have consistency with the product. If you guys have a photo of a big fish with an Ice Buster Bobber in the photo - please send it to me and I'll send you some free bobbers! Bruce Mosher

Maybe even just glue a cap on both ends, add an inch or two to the length, and still package them 2 each, but there would actually be 4 bobbers in the pack after a simple cut which you have to do anyway. Not much change in overhead but worth the extra charge (maybe a buck a bag more?)

I appreciate the work and initiative to bring us these great products, Bruce, and I am in no way trying to cut your profit from some great little bobbers. Just a thought.
