Official B & C Scoring

Recommended Posts

It's official! New member here and I just spoke with the Boone & Crockett scoring official on my many point deer shot in November of '04. The final total was 224 and 2/8's. Final number of points is 26. The buck ONLY weighed 192 pounds and was harvested in St. Louis County. Of course it's the largest one I've ever taken! Next week he'll be in the hands of the Taxidermist and then on to my wall! I'd love to post pictures on here but don't know how. If anybody can help or knows if there is instructions on how to post pics somewhere please feel free. Thanks-Pete

Proctor, is that the duluth deer everyone was talking about that could be a state record???? Or was that another giant??

Contrats by hte way, you should be proud. I would give my left testicle to shoot a deer like that! Contrats again!

BLB, I'm having quite a time sending pictures here so please bear with me. Yes, this is the one that some people saw on TV after the second weekend. 26 countable points and I'm planning to enter it in the Mn Deer Classic in March. Thanks for the interest and please be patient.-Pete

When they mount a head mount they have to take out the antlers with the skull still attached between them. They then skin and flesh out the cape and have that tanned, which is the most time consuming part, I've been told.

Congrats on shooting that brute. Boy am I jealous.

Gee, thanks for all the nice words. I didn't know how taxidermy was done, (I thought it was stuffed)so when the taxidermist started cutting them off I was a bit apprehensive but after learning a little I'm okay with it now. The mount will be from just behind the shoulders, including the front of the front legs. (so it looks like it will be coming out of the wall I guess) My plan is to enter it in a large deer related show at the Minnesota state Fairgrounds.(not sure if I can mention the name-don't want to get kicked off here) It's a long story, but a great one, and I'll figure out how to write it up here in the next few days. Thanks for the interest!-Pete
