Bruce Mosher
I have a Sled Mate for my Otter Magnum. I used it all last winter and I am Very Impressed on how they work. Everything is very organized and stays put. I have cruised across Lake of the Woods going 50 to 60 Mph with everything in place! Great Product! HoleHopper
I seen them at the ice fishing show, and they look like they are built sterdy. You can tell a lot of thought went into them. I would have bought one if my finances were in better condition. I wish them luck with there new product.
MNice
Looks heavy and it's overpriced in my opinion.
Duffer
i would think it would make your sled alot more heavy.
hanson
I think they make a great product. Does it add weight to the sled? Sure. But does it protect your high priced gear? YES! I would rather pay money for a product like this than have to buy a new Marcum because I was careless and my auger bounced on top of it and broke it. Like Bruce said- When you are traveling 30-50 mph towing your Otter behind your snowmobile, you absolutely need to protect your gear.
danny berg
I asked the guy at the ice fishinig show how much they weigh and he said about 55 lbs. I figured I could probably build my own and use a lighter wood, I think standard 1 x 12's would be good enough.
Bob Horn
I would use a hand auger before I ever gave up my Marcum.
Northlander
Is it waterproof?
Jim Hudson
I do not have an otter type portable but rather an older style fish trap voyager. A friend and I are almost finished fabricating a set up for holding my gear. It's kinda similar to the sledmate but not at the same time, I will post some pics when I am finished. With the design, I will be able to stow my auger (either 8, 9, or 10in), five gallon buckets, lantern, minnow bucket, 11lb propane tank, etc etc etc. The beauty is that all the stuff will be safe from bouncing around on one another. It is made from scrap wood and will roughly cost about 45 dollars when completed. And the beauty is the frame is only an extra 15lbs. One thing prior to fabricating this set-up was devising a plan for keeping a frame off of the sled bottom, as when you are traveling over the ice the bottom of your tub flexes with cracks, drifts, etc. So I think the way we layed this out will work great for the purpose of strain on the tub bottom and for keeping ice, snow, etc off all my equipment while it is in my shack. Also, we are devising a way to rig some lighting in the shack that is 12v LED to have minimal drain on a vexilar style battery. Again, I will post some pics when the finished product is done and hopefully it will work well this season as I am snowmobiling to my favorite lake trout holes. Northlander, you will have to take a peek at it, maybe my buddy can rig something for your new house.
Northlander
Jim I will have to look at that for sure! Maybe you can rig it up with a alarm clock? LOL.
Jim Hudson
Yeah I forgot that little detail.... lol... but the alarm clocks I use have a HUGE snooze button on them.. .. it will be done after christmas, so you will be able to eye it up when we catch some salmon, smallies, 'eyes, browns, or what have you down in Ashland....
