jltimm
I picked up a JR's rod&tackle bag today at the ice show and I'am starting to wonder if the old 5 gallon bucket idea is still better to get everything in.The ice scoop, hook out's and pliers?Maybe it's one of those things you have to use a little bit and get used to it? Matt Johnson
What's the problem with the bag? Maybe I misunderstood your post. What model bag did you get from JR's?Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
Corey Bechtold
I have one of their bags and have too much storage. Sometimes I loose tackle boxes in some of the pouches. As for the Ice scoop, a small plastic one fits in there nicely. If you have a metal one just let the scoop end hang out of the end of the longest pouch. The 2 straps also work well as a backback. Good LuckCorey Bechtold
BDR
I have 8 rod reel combos, 3 plano boxes for tackle in mine. I think there is plenty of room left for my tools, line. Every thing is organized and acessible, and most importantly I know where it is rather than piled on the bottom of a bucket.
Northlander
Brian isnt it weird how much you can pile in a bag? I have a ice scoop that when you scoop the ice the upward motion opens the scoop. That fits in all my bags. A metal one probably would be best hung out of a pocket with the handle tuck in it.
augernaut
I agree, I have a bag similar to the JR's bag - and I usually have to control myself to not put too much in it! 4-6 rods, tackle boxes, boga grip (for pike), slush scoop, etc etc etc.... jltimm
It's the bigger bag with 2 zip open sides for rods and tackle ect... storage on the outside of both of them.Sorry if I 'am not explaining this properly.Got the bag from Capra's at the Ice show as it looked like the better choice in bags for getting everything in.Not sure of the model of bag?Does it say on it somewhere?Where do you get the ice scooper for a 8" hole that closes when you get it to the bottom of the hole and stays open on the way down? Thanks for all the responses!! Northlander
jltimm I have seen them all over. Mine has a black handle and a green spilt scoop. Gander, Marine General, Cabelas and a lot of baitshops had them. Just be careful that you dont hit the bottom of the ice on the way up. Being plastic you have to be careful. I havent busted mine yet. Ill see if I can get a name off of it. Someone at the show had them.
Dennis Steele
JT I think I know where your comming from. I was a bucket guy for the longest time. It took a lot of convincing to make me switch over to a case. The first couple times I used it, I didn't care for it. After all in a bucket there is only one opening to look in for my gear. It didn't take too long to get used to it though. It is a clear adavntage to have all your gear protected. Rods come out easier with a case. When you pull out one, the rest of them don't follow anymore. Oh Ya Happy B-Day Lost!
