Safe ice predictions

When do people think the ice is going to be safe around the state, preferably in the metro?

I predict the ice will be safe for me the day AFTER someone heavier than I am was on it the day before.

AS long as my otter sled floats it's safe ice. Two winters ago I was sitting on ice in my otter w/tarp down casting into open water one night. I just decided to call it ice trolling. So who says you can't go trolling on ice.

Hey Rich i plan on being out ice fishing next tues before i come home, you should go down to that spot on the river and see if the smallies are biting if there isnt any ice yet.

I would say I agree with exudedude......with the problem being that there aren't many guys bigger than me. I add a day or two.

I would unfortunately guess that metro ice won't be walkable till the week of Christmas. This has been an exceptionally warm fall......so unless we get some exceptional cold we're in for a late season.

God I can't wait till Christmas. A few weeks ago on the Duluth forum I predicted Dec 7 for 3" of ice on Fish lake. Its not looking good.

I hope we have ice soon I can't keep my arms from twitching they need some ice action. I would safely say around Dec 20th or so we should have safe ice but hopefully sooner, I guess we'll have to see what mother nature has in store for us.

I would guess by December 15th ice will be fishable in the west central/central part of the state! That is if the weather stays cold and we dont any snow until the ice is safe too.

I'm going with Dec. 10th or so North of Hinckley. Metro.. I hate to say it, but I'm guessing close to Christmas. Maybe the 20th.

ive been checking the 10 day forcast and it looks like its getting colder down to 8 for a low one night, im thinking we might have walking ice in as little as 2 weeks if the gods smile down on us otherwise it will be in probally 3 weeks, christmas is a little far off i think unless your a bigger fellow like me at a slim 5'8'' 205.
