eyeguy 54
A tip I got last winter. The smoker doesn’t like cold weather when turning on. Warm up the small Round temp reader inside the smoker on back wall about half way up with hair dryer for a minute or less. Then turn on smoker so you don’t get error. Learned this from Bradley. Under 40 degrees is usually when needed. Smoking crappies in an hour. Grainbelt, bobberineyes, leech~~ and 1 other
leech~~
Are those the smoking racks that came with your unit-are where you get? Looks like the deal for fish and small item smoking.
huntnfish
Mine is an older analog version that doesn’t error out. I do have issues with it heating up enough if it’s below 30. I’ve started bringing it into the basement the night before using it to get it warmed up. I also use a felt like welding blanket wrapped around it to help hold some heat. eyeguy 54
eyeguy 54
Bradley magic mats. Love them for fish. I spray with a light coat of olive oil then lay fish on them.

huntnfish
Those crappies look great! I have never tried smoking any fish. I’m sure you’ve put what you brine them in on here already but I’m too lazy right now to look. Do they dry out at all? I think I have one small package left in the freezer. May have to try that on Christmas Eve also.
eyeguy 54
Quart water. 1/2 cup sugar. 1/3 cup pickling salt for brine. Cold. Fish in for one hour. Pat dry. Seafood magic on fish. I like them best with cherrywood.
eyeguy 54
Still good if you over dry.
