Teen Vehicle

Looking for any advice on a vehicle for my daughter.  She would like a small SUV like a Rav4 or Saturn Vue.  I would also like to add AWD in case "dad" needed it to tow the boat to the cabin.  Looking to spend under $5000.  I've heard terrible things about the Nissans with the CVT system so ruling them out.  I have always heard decent things about the Saturn.

I have had two Saturns. If you get one get the one with the Honda motor and drive train. Around 2004-05-06. Great power and had no issues. I have a 2009 now and they had a big tranny issue where the "wavy plate" cracks which happened to me shortly after buying it. It takes out the whole tranny and it has to be rebuilt.

AWD adds considerable to the price of a used car, doesn't it?

I say get her a good car and then Dad go get your 4X4 or AWD....

how much weight you towing?

 

what about a used toyota 4runner? super reliable, but I wouldnt be afraid to buy a older high mileage one to get in your price range.

A friend has a Rav 4 and pulls his boat with it all the time. Reliable and great gas mileage.

Rav4 is a great vehicle with a good body, (unlike some of the other yotas)...

Never towed anything with the one we had, so I would proceed carefully on that..

Rav4 and 4Runner are great choices but depend on the weight of the boat.

I think RAV4 towing capacity is 1500 pounds, so not too big a boat...

Honda CRV is reliable also and an all-wheel drive.
