the "only thing left in the liquor cabinet" is usually the kiss of death.  As a graduate of the University of Brown,  brandy never was in my class load.  Sure I had a few Old Fashioneds back in my formative drinking years but brandy never tasted that good to me unless it was buried in bitters, 7up and cherry juice.  I majored in Crown Royal and then did my graduate work in Captain Morgan in a poor attempt to not graduate.  That may seem like the reverse order of a drinking education and I think it was too.

Back in the Crown days I was once left with only Captain Morgan on a Sunday at the cabin.  Really dreadful tasting stuff but I, like you, worked through the taste like a champ.  The next day I smelled like a vanilla Christmas tree style air freshener that many hang in their vehicle.

Smurfy- is your place on Bowstring?  Buddy of mine has a place a smidge east of the public ramp on the north side of the lake.  Lots of NE Mpls boys doing the slip bobber thing up there when they are around.

no real secrets!!!!!!! the loins just season with seasonings you like. drink a sip, start grill, take a drink, put on grill, take another drink, flip.....well you get the drift. cook till warm. inside was nice and red.

the eyes, I leave the skin on. spread butter over fillets, take a drink................. add seasonings. I like salt and pepper, lemon pepper, alpine touch, and a little garlic salt. put on grill, takes about 20 minutes. when meat starts flaking put lemon juice over fillets. cook a bit...........enjoy!!!!!!!! you can literally burn that skin and the fish meat is still good.

chow tonite was enchiladas, sorry no pictures. had my mom over and busying B.S. ing!!!!!!!!

first the brandy thing..............I wont drink ANY hard ligour straight. brandy gets mixed with 7up. vodka gets OJ.as well as tequila.

no we are about 12 miles due north of bowstring, and yea from the cty rd 35 access! not sure if you do much cruising when your up there but we are not far from the spring lake store or the old north school. actually gunner55 is just west from that access not real far. I love that country up there

they have to be close to the road that heads to bowstring shores right?

bought the only thing I graduated from was southern comfort university as well as slow gin city!!!!!!!!!:cry::sick::sick:

Yeah,Thunderlund there's smoother blends than Mr. Boston or just about anything that says 5 Star. Mine gets some Coke dilution. I had a early graduation from Rum University at a early age as somebody snuck some straight 151 in on me :sick: & still can't handle rum. Not a big fan of Southern Comfort either & haven't tough slow gin since Jr High. :whistle:  LL we are only about 6-8 miles west of there, not far from the stop sign on co rd 35 going west. The smurf & I are almost neighbors up here :blush:

That is a nice meal there.  I sure miss fresh walleye fillets.  I used to drink nothing but Korbel brandy when I did buy brandy.  Used to have a kork in the that bottle back then.  Beer only now except deer camp.  I bought a bottle of Korbel brandy last Christmas for egg noggs and it was in a plastic type bottle with no kork.  Was OK though.  good luck.

Korbel is brandy and not that high of a grade brandy.  Probably made from the pits and stems left over from Red Mountain, or as it is called now, Carlo Rossi. 

Back when I was in California making the world safe for democracy, Red Mountain was $1.99 a gallon.   Although, in constant dollars, Trader Joe "charles shaw" two buck chuck is probably even cheaper.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.   
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there,but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity. 
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
