TomBow
For all you Gobblers and Hens out there, the MN DNR has posted the 2004 Spring Turkey Lottery results on the MN DNR HSOforum. Can't believe my luck, I'll be going for the 4th year in a row! Unfortunately, my wife evidently did not get a tag for spring, but she will still get to go with, just no calling birds (see the DNR regs).Best of Luck to all! woodman
Does anybody know if anybody can buy a surplus permit? The wife and I are looking into going. hunt4food
Hey thanks for posting this. You made my night! I was lucky enough to have drawn a tag! 236C for me.
Borch
Woodman,Any of the unsuccessful applicaants can buy a surplus permit. But you had to be in this springs drawing. We were 3 for 4 this spring(419D). Only my 19 year old didn't pull a permit. She didn't apply last spring so she didn't have any prefernce points. The rest of us had 2 points. So she applied individually. So she'll need to check out a later season if she decides to go on her own.Time to start talking to landowners. fivebucks
No luck for me this year. I guy I work with has some farms in Missouri that I can hunt so off to Missouri it is I think. The only downside is the $145 a non-resident license costs down there. Gotta set the priorities - hunting or new kitchen cabinets.
CornPirateKiller
Yes! Two years in a row. Now if I can just get a big tom to cooperate. Good luck to all the rest of you.------------------Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati (When all else fails, play dead)
Ruttin' Buck
Hey thanks Tombow....we've been selected 4 of 5 years! Time to figure that broadhead thing out now Tombow!Whoever said it is right. You need to have applied before the Dec. 5th deadline to be eligible for surplus. We picked up surplus permits the one year we didn't get drawn....but say hello to long lines and some fancy finger crossin'.
LABS4ME
Here I sit in my office...glad I came in today! Start off the 1st week in Minnesota, followed by the second week in Wisconsin! Hope for my first 2 bird year! Good Luck to those who've drawn, and even more luck to those chasing the surplus tags!...the DNR has to figure out a new system for those! Maybe an alternate date / zone on applicatations? Ken
Parker
Labs4me - Have you received your postcard from the WI DNR already? If so, when? I'm starting to get worried that I didn't get drawn in either state.

uffdapete
Woodman - here in SE MN people start getting in line 2-3 hours before the lottery start time. It's like that at most places down here that sells licenses. I would imagine it would be less congested in northern MN, but I would ask around beforehand how busy different places are. I think last year the surplus licenses were sold out in less than 30 minutes.
LABS4ME
No...I went to the Wi DNR HSOforum, ckicked on but license on line, clicked on spring turkey, shows if you got one for this year and when you can apply for next year. Good Luck! Hope you pull!Ken

bucks-n-ducks
When do surplus license go on sale, it seems as though I'm going to have to be at the store right when they start selling....Lines won't be a problem, I was the only person tha I know of to apply in the town I live in (Northern Minnesota) someone let me know wso I can hopefully still make it out for the first time, this is my first time hunting turkeys, so I'm assuming it is going to be a learning year

CornPirateKiller
I'm 2 for 2! Just found out that I was drawn for an Iowa turkey license too. Now comes the worst part, the wait. First hunt, May 1 - 5 South of Ottumwa Iowa. Second Hunt, May 14 - 20 near Rochester, MN. Guess I'll have to go fishing to pass the time between now and then.------------------Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati (When all else fails, play dead)
