If they like burnt and reheated tuna then have them come to my house.   She may have invented the "blackened" craze from a few years ago.

Better call Del. Tell him it's Ahi or he won't eat it.

Good morning.  I am having unblackened oatmeal this morning.  I was thinking of LL and Dotch last night at supper time.  I was preparing hamburgers for the grill when Andrew Zimmern was on.  He was at the Faroe Islands north of Scotland.  Man what beautiful country.  Every scene was like a post card.  They are sheep people.  They butcher sheep and use every part.  I mean every part.  I could see Dotch and sheperd wannabe LL doing these steps to create food for their loving families.  The weather averages 45 degrees there.  They can hang a side of lamb in the barn and leave it.  The good bacteria eventually overcomes the bad bacteria and when the meat turns green on the outside the process is a success.  Then they eat it raw. :(  There is food for thought for today.

Am on solid food and enjoying life again.  Back to work today.  See ya all later and have a great day.

huh...sounds like they live in a refrigerator atmosphere.  How convenient.

The day is starting terribly and 48 years of admiration is down the tubes.  I got lured into a web thread of "20 Presidential Affairs They Wish We Forgot" last night.  Abe Lincoln had two at least and they were both men.  I actually researched if further since I didn't trust some stupid list thing.  Seems it's true, Abe Lincoln...ugh.

I'm working on bad verb tense today.  I have some great friends that do it all the time and my dad did.  It's a noble goal for me.  I seen a couple geese on the pond this morning and we ain't got no snow here.  My sister lives in Rosemount and looked like she got 6-8 inches.   Sven Lundsgard of channel 11 said totals were 6-10 inches in many parts and all that made me think of was Abe Lincoln and all the wiener posts on here including Thunder Lund going to a German joint for his birthday and having wurst or schnitzels.

I'm taking a hiatus from here for a while to clear my head.  I may go and seen if any farms are for sale in the area.

Good Morning.  I like the part that I didn't get any snow this time around.  Both of my daughters in Prior Lake got 10 inches of snow.  Every year about this time they put out messages on Facebook about being sick of snow and wanting to live somewhere near a beach.  This last dump of snow yesterday,  continued their tradition of beach posts.  I always respond with buying a fake palm tree and taking it up to Park Point by Duluth.  They don't think it's too funny.  Told them to do what a lot of folks do [like Del], to live here and live in a warm spot during the winter.  I'm not doing that but some folks like that.  I love Minnesota and if I had my way,  I would move to Ely for the rest of my life but my wife wants to be near the kids.   good luck.

10-12" wet heavy snow here. Weather Channel live in town. That's all I'm saying. Can't say the rest. Was about ready to rake the yard this weekend. Rotten dump.

Unable to post pics ...another problem here.......

Prolly about 6" - 9" of snow depending on where you're at here. Didn't snow hard until after 10 p.m. last night. A real mess is all I know. Did some creative landscaping on the yard with the tractor and skidloader so I'm sure Mrs. Cheviot will be real impressed. Had another ewe lambing when I pulled out for town so got that to look forward to when I head back home to feed bottle lambs. Those Scots are quite proud of their thriftiness. I have Scottish ancestry on my Mom's side but think I'll take the fresh stuff as opposed to the green aged product. Seems like much of the food from the that neck of the woods is just OK but not necessarily what I'm looking for if we're going out to eat. The alcohol on the other hand...:) Farm land has been getting cheaper LL so you may be able to get better deals as time goes on at least for a a while. Gotta keep moving here. Lots more chasing my tail to accomplish. ;)

Last night wife took knife eater and Brit outside.  She came back with one dog.  "Where's Brit?"  "She wouldn't come".

I saw Brit standing in the circle, she's senile.  Wife wouldn't go and get her and I was making dinner.  Wife said she'd come home and acted like a petulant child.  Right before dark I got in my truck to look for her, no luck.  Dog finally came home and looked like she ate Del's 25 pound bag of rice, one Cheviot Ram, a union made blanket, a dozen beet juice pickled eggs, landfill walleyes, and for desert some of that LPS green sheep from Scotland.  I was not happy.

Today the dog diahread three times in the house and barfed in the kennel.  I wouldn't let her in the house and took her out of the kennel cause she'd just eat it.  Now she left the yard obviously going back to whatever smorgasbord she found last night.  If anyone is fat it's her and she has short legs too.

Tip to wife:  bring the dog in....everyone else can do it so can you.  I"m not happy.

Well, that certainly was a visually imaginative and  stimulating, sensory racking post to read, while I was eating my braunschweiger sandwich and pickled egg.  Think I'll go back out to the two feet of snow and blow my lunch. On the neighbors snowpile. So their mutt can eat it. And krap on their floor.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
