it's far from morning but I've held out long enough.  I need new tires on my truck.  Frankly, I've needed them for a while but now that we have three rigs around here I don't drive my truck a lot but with Spring and Summer coming up I will be driving up to the cabin a lot.

It's tough, the ones I have now are cool looking and/or were when they had some tread on them.  They are so loud though that I can't even hear the cat calls from the ladies which is counterproductive.  My dilemma is I'm three years older than when I got the tires so I'm thinking I need to get even cooler tires to compensate.  Presently I have Hankcok Dynapros something 285/55R 20 inchers.  I think I'm going to step them up a notch at least it will be different road noise.  Other option is to get some old man tire like Del would get that is super quite, mechanically efficient but look awful.

Oh well, I will call the best tire store in the world in Corcoran tomorrow and see what they suggest.  It's on the edge of farm country so sometimes they are working on a tractor.  Makes me feel like I live where I want to.

I can't help it. It's the engineer in me. I can't buy dumb tires that don't work just to look cool.

But I did get a picture of the next truck you can get to really look cool.

Ayup, now there's something that makes a lot of sense: a brush bar on a vehicle with less than 8" ground clearance....with street tires and rims. Kinda like a wing and hood scoop on those little toy Hondas. Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......

Must be a drug lord friend of Del's.  lolol   You would look cool in that LL.    I got those Hancooks Dynapros for my knock around truck and they are great in the snow.  When I drag round bales out for the horses they work great.  Didn't even need to use the Ol' 1951 Allis WD all winter due to low snow levels.  The chinese sounding name does not go well with my made in America program though.  So the middle aged crazys are kicking in huh LL?  I've been there still doing it. ;)

Thanks Reb.  I was just trying to help Del stay out of trouble.  People go on vacation to places like Cabo thinking it is safe.  Those are the same places the Drug Lords hang out.  Wouldn't you if you had a wad of cash?  So DEL BE CAREFUL.  Everyone isn't Minnesota nice.

Boy, sure is quiet and dark for a Monday......Dotch must be out countin' sheep...LL suckin' down cawfee and daydreaming already....lbbg and the rest dreaming of giant smoked and stuffed patties....  Looks like a dreary week. Rain, fog, sleet, snow, drizzle, snizzle. They miss anything? I need to come up with something for supper...I'm wiped out as far as ideas, and want to use what's on hand. I did well on stocking the freezer to last until Spring, about 3 lbs hamburger left, 4-5 pks chicken, 2 pks pig chops, a small ham, bag of shrimp....and RH's wunnerful sausage. That's it.Only thing I bought all winter was chicken. Might have to make some of my fried rice and toss in a few of those shrimp. Reb's Rice-a-Roni Roulade. Have a couple big chicken breasts thawing out. Plan on soaking a bit in some lime juice, rubbing with some Mexican seasoning, and after melding, cook 'em topped with chunky salsa and shredded cheddar. Too bad I don't have some Mexican Rice-a-Roni for a side dish.....:P Have a good Monday, guys....

I used to love Mondays and I think that was because I'm a contrarian and wanted to love something everyone else seemed to hate.  Besides since Monday's happen anyway may as well make the best of it.  I'm back to loving Mondays and I think The Big Man upstairs had something to do with it, it's too complex to explain here so I will leave it at that.

Yesterday I waited in line at Cub behind a gal in a wheelchair.  We were at the "convenience" aisle and all I needed to do was get my old Cub receipts put on the gas card thing.  Thanks to you guys and another friend of mine I stood there like a statue as people behind us became upset.  She was buying some heaters and the clerk had to get her money out of her wallet and there was a lot of confusion.  After the transaction there was discussion about recent visits to the casino. It was apparent to me that this trip to Cub was the "event" of the day for the gal.  Eventually it was my turn and I got my business done.

Here's the bonus.  When I went out to my car the day seemed nicer, I had a spring in my step, the world was my oyster. If I got angry that wouldn't have happened, actually just the opposite.  Happy Monday fellers!!!

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
