reinhard1
Everything looks great!!!! Never tried Shocktop as a injection but alcohol does tenderize meat and you will give the bird some good moisture. Drank plenty of Shocktop though and I like it. Was it a dark one? good luck. eyeguy 54
just a normal shocktop in the bird. smoking it with apple cherry mix. forgot info on the stew, brown the meat, mix all in a crockpot, mix up 2 cans tomato soup with 3/4 can water, 1/4 red wine. pour over and cook away. reinhard1

nofishfisherman
where's the dog? That dog loves photobombs. I'm concerned.I am also concerned. Wait a minute!!! With all the frantic cooking going on over there you didn't get carried away and accidentally cook the dog to did you? I could see you slipping up and blindly just grabbing at things tossing them into a preheated oven. Oh I hope that's not what happened...but if so let us know how it turns out and what temp you ended up cooking it on.

reinhard1
Looks awesome!!! Smoker is always better than the oven. I love giblets also. But the only time I eat them is when we do a turkey or whole chicken. Those pop-ups are only a general guide and I wouldn't go by them as far as going by it for the bird to be done. They are placed at the plant and not really in the right place. The breast is the area they are planted in and the breast get's done before the dark meat so it's really not accurate for the whole bird but it tells you that you are close. The pop-up's can be more accurate in pork or beef items though. We had them available for home use at the stores where I worked and I still see them that they give out for free. They have them for beef, pork, and poultry. They are designed to pop-up at the safe internal temps for each type of meat or poultry item. Since I do the cooking, I get the giblets, but I'm the only one that likes them. good luck. bobberineyes, eyeguy 54 and smurfy
smurfy
to tell when a whole bird is done I pull the leg,if it pulls apart I decide its done!!!!!!!! to to love the neck gizzard and hear and usually am the only one that eats them. however they are supposed to be high in cholesteral. a no-no for me. ma always threw them in the dressing. lately the neck gets boiled for soup! Curious though, much difference in your probe vs the belly button when it was pulled? my dad's line on giblets- "I don't eat guts." End of story for him I like em though. reinhard1
