Popular Post leechlake
yesterday I made a few snacks for my wife and I and wanted a simple sauce to dip it in. Mixed about 1/2 honey with 1/2 sriracha sauce, it was amazing and amazingly simple. I even put it on a tossed salad at dinner. You can turn up the sriracha to about 2/3 if you like things hotter. I'm almost embarrassed to post something so simple. reinhard1, pushbutton, ThunderLund78 and 2 others
reinhard1
Simple is good a lot of times. Just like my Butcher sauce if I want something quick and good for ribs or chicken. Equal amounts of ketchup and Western dressing. One cup ketchup and one cup Western dressing. Bring to a simmer and add some apple juice to it if you want it thinner for a mop sauce. good luck. leechlake, chaffmj, pushbutton and 1 other
leechlake
Western dressing was a staple in our fridge as a kid. I'm going to have to pick some up, seems my wife buys a lot of high brow dressings (all Lite...yuck). reinhard1 and chaffmj
icehole10
I have tried this with Dorthy Lynch which is similar to western dressing, but have not added the apple juice. It sounds like it would go good with pork. Might have to give this a try, as well as sriracha and honey mixture! pushbutton, chaffmj and reinhard1
pushbutton
Have also made a similar "simple sauce" .....but with the garlic chili sauce made/sold by the same company as sriracha and western dressing.....lol. A big key to a lot of sauces is the blend blend of sweet, salt, and acid......which all the above have. chaffmj and reinhard1
LindellProStaf
We always had Western dressing on our house as I grew up too. I haven't had it in years. I bought some recently and really like it. Good to put on lot of things where ketchup just isn't enough. I will try the rib combo. Might have to get some sriracha sauce too. It sounds hot so I will go light the first time. chaffmj
delcecchi
Some of the asian chili concoctions will take your head off. I had some stuff called sambal oelek as I recall. It was sort of oily and I could only eat like three drops on a helping of rice. Took it to work for the pot luck at Cristmas, and a couple of south indian guys ate most of the jar as a dip with crackers. I don't find Siracha too bad, spice wise. chaffmj
Finns
Mixed about 1/2 honey with 1/2 sriracha sauce, it was amazing and amazingly simple. I like Sriracha Sauce but 1 to 1 burnt the heck out of me. Had to go to 3 honey - 1 sauce. chaffmj and reinhard1
