Best all around tire

Recommended Posts

I run Michelin's on all the trucks now. The two Excursions and the F250 have the 285 LTX and the dually has stock size MS2's.

Ran a set of ravo load E's on one of the Excursions and they were horrible. At 35K miles replaced them.

Did have really good luck with a couple sets of BFG ATKO's but they spit rocks real bad.

Also, did ok on a set of Terra Grapplers.

So, as old man winter gets closer to visiting, I find myself realizing I need new tires. I drive a crew cab 1/2 ton 4x4 truck. Currently have Bridgestone dueler revo 2's on it. Which I liked quite a bit. But been lookin into cooper discoverer at3's. Now here's the nitty gritty. I want the best tire I can put on it. All seasons. 50+ mile warranty. Definitely gotta be good in snow, and worth a darn on ice. Absolutely no Goodyear products. That's a long story I don't want to get into. What do you guys have the best luck with?

I've got about 60k on my Firestone Destination A/T and loved them. I had some regret when I saw them installed on my truck before I drove away with them because I thought they were going to be noisy. I was wrong. Much quieter tgan the Goodyears that were on there. The snow traction was phenomenal. Expensive, but they might be the best all around out there.

Put a set of cooper CTS on my suburban. Pretty good buy with a $70 rebate and $50 gift card and another 10% off by signing up for a ff card with 6 months free interest if needed. They are a pretty quiet road tire but will have to see how well they do in snow. Not to worried as my last firestones were similar tread design and the extra weight of a suburban helps with traction. If this were my main winter driver I would have went with different tires but most of my miles are put on in the summer months.

Not a fan of Hankook tires. Good traction in the winter but the soft compound doesn't last. I am all for Michelin tires. Just put a set of LTX M2 265/65R17 on my F150. $669 out the door mounted and balance. Of coarse that was with my Ford discount and a buy 3 get 1 free. Gives you an idea of the cost.

Anyone else had good/bad experiences with the Firestone Destination A/T's?

Like everyone else I'm looking for something good on snow/lake but also do a fair amount of highway driving around town during the week.

Trying to decide between these and the Cooper AT/3's

I have Firestone Destination A/Ts. Drive close to 40 miles a day to and from work. I have had zero problems and great traction on snow. And will be buying them again when I need to.

The stock Bridgestone Duelers on my '08 Silverado lasted 55K miles and I went to the Firestone Destination A/T.

I don't think the Firestone has as good of traction as the Bridgestone nor did they seem to wear as well. They're not a bad tire. Just not my first choice.

my nephew was a Firestone manager at a store for years. He suggested these tires to me as the best tires for my Silveradado, I didn't get them though because the local dealer by my house had some cool looking Hancoks I put on. So a Firestone guy who has my back suggested them so I'd wager they are a good tire.

I had a set of LTX's on my f150, got maybe 55 on them, I then tried Yokohama Geolanders, worst tires ever, barely got 35 on them and they had to go. I am now running Hankook's, love them, gas mileage actually went up 3 mpg on the Highway. I used to run Hankook's years ago when I drove a car, I loved them then, and I am loving the ones on my truck

I'm on my second set of Firestone Destinations on my truck. 1st set lasted 75k before I ran over something that put a 1 inch hole in the center of the tread, could have gone the rest of the summer before replacing for winter but figured I may as well replace them all. This second set is at 75k as well and will admit I haven't rotated them as often as I should, two have about 1/4" before they hit the wear stripes and two are about 1/16" away from the stripes. I will be replacing them in the coming weeks, most likely with another set of Firestones.

I have zero experience with Hankooks, do you have the Dynopro ATM's?
