Canon Guy
I see the Wisconsin coach will not let the Axe be on the sidelines. The winning team will be awarded the Axe in the locker room.
CaptainMusky
That's probably a smart move after what happened two years ago. Keep it in the locker room and avoid confrontation.
Canon Guy
Must have been some pressure on him so he has backtracked a little. The Axe will now be brought out to one the end zones so the players can still go get it right after a victory.

I like the tradition of running for the axe but I can see where rushing for the sideline of the other team might cause issues. Putting it in the end zone seems like a good idea. Chopping at the goal post was pretty low class but not worth rioting over either. For the first time ever, I'm looking forward to Saturday's game more than last Sunday's border battle. What does that tell you about how much the Vikings and Gophers have changed.
SkunkedAgain
Too many people take this all too seriously. You can be a fan without committing your life to the team. Since moving here in the early 1990s I've been a big fan of the team. This season has already exceeded expectations so everything that's been happening since the Illinois has been icing on the cake.I was a firm believer that we'd win 3 out of the 4 first easy games and lose 3 out of the 4 tough games. We're already one ahead of that prediction. I'm happy win or lose next week.
JBMasterAngler
Gophers are projected to play Missouri in the citrus bowl. That matchup doesn't sound too exciting. I'd rather they play a real SEC team like ole miss, or LSU, or even south carolina.
JBMasterAngler
Gophers now ranked #
Canon Guy
I've seen a few different scenarios. Saturday will probably determine which bowl they go to. I've seen match ups against Mizz, Ole Miss, LSU and Utah
JBMasterAngler
Latest prediction has them playing LSU in the outback bowl. Win or lose they'll be playing on new years. And it would appear the worst they could do is the outback bowl.
Canon Guy
I don't know if they can pull it out Saturday, but either way this season has surely been a step in the right direction.
fishersofmen
Lets go boys!! I hope Cobb can play sounds like a game time decision.
smsmith
As a devout Badger fan, I'll say this...the Gophers played a he!! of a game today. Coach Kill deserves kudos for restoring credibility to the Gopher football program. I hope folks in MN understand the value of a coach like that. That said, the kid that purposely twisted Melvin Gordon's ankle today showed a complete lack of class. Not what UM football needs...at all. Canon Guy
Too bad, but the better team won today. A QB that could throw the ball would make a world of difference for the Gophers. Hopefully those kids get a nice bowl game this year.
fishersofmen
I agree Canon this team has done an awesome job this year but to take it to the next level the offense cannot be this one-dimensional. Those huge plays Wisconsin was able to make passing the ball was the difference in the game. If we can get a great qb in here we can play with anyone. Big Dave2
Typical Gopher performance. To think, I almost became a believer. I guess when 5th place is one of the best finishes your team has had in almost 50 years.........
Big Dave2
Where are all the Mn Gohper nay sayers today, Kill is dump, can't win a big game, not going to a major bowl, well well looky see.

JBMasterAngler
Gophers actually finished in 4th place. Ahead of teams like Nebraska, Michigan, and Iowa, who were all expected to finished ahead of us.
toughguy
It was a disappointing loss on Saturday especially considering how it started. That said this team gets better with each passing year and I like the job Kill has done. The tackling and blocking are miles ahead of where it was when he came in. What this team needs is a QB. A good WR would help too. Maye has the potential but only 1 year left. I feel like they wasted his time at MN wit the lack of QB help. It wouldn't surprise me if Maxx Williams left for the NFL this spring because of QB play too. Leidner doesn't have what it takes at this level and unfortunately we're stuck with him for at least one more year. We've still got a chance to get into a decent bowl game. For recruiting sake I hope we impress.

Not what UM football needs...at all. +1000I'm glad someone else noticed that. What else was funny is that right after he was injured they showed a Gordon highlight package of the game up to that point and #7 was doing the same maneuver to tackle him every. Single. Time. Huskie
I didn't see it that way LMT, looked like they both were just rolling after the tackle, happens all the time. But then again I didn't play semi pro flag football like you must have!!!
LMITOUT
Just rolling...There was a dirtbag that plays for Cincinnati who got called out for doing the same thing. But I guess he was "just rolling" when the two people he tackled got their ankles injured.*rollseyes*
Big Dave2
Gophers actually finished in 4th place. Ahead of teams like Nebraska, Michigan, and Iowa, who were all expected to finished ahead of us. According to the Big 10 HSOforum Nebraska is 9-3 and the Gophers are 8-4. I guess as far as conference schedule goes the Gophers did have the same record as Nebraska and won the head to head match up but Nebraska still had a better over-all record than the gophers. fishersofmen
Once we get some new facilities built many of the top players in the country will be begging to come and play here we wont even have to recruit.
