Big Dave2
Maybe I could get back into it more if they would quit calling it "stock car" racing. There's not one thing "stock" about these cars. At the local tracks I would compare them more to the "modified" class. Not enough red-necks involved with the sport anymore either. Every other driver is college educated and from California. This sport was founded by red-necks for red-necks.
CaptainMusky
Reading is fundamental. making a coherent statement is also fundamental.Had he stayed in his car he would alive today. Simple as that and there disputing that fact.
LMITOUT
It was coherent. Plenty of drivers get out of the cars and never get injured...except when another driver tries to spin dirt on them because he's a hothead and accidentally gets too close, allegedly. harvey lee
Fact still remains had he stayed in his car he'd still be alive. If we are talking facts, I would agree Capt. One can guess and assume all they want what happened, one can say he tried to dust Ward with dirt to send a message like Lmit suggests, but that is all an assumption as no facts support that theory, only people who believe Tony was trying to send a message. I have not seen to many drivers get out of their car, at night , in the dark and then walk down the track next to a car. Yes, they get out, flip them the finger and throw a helmet at them but very few did what Ward did. Enuf racers get out of the car on the track like Ward did, it is only a matter of time before another car will hit them, just that simple. The bigger question may be, why tempt fate?I guess if you want to say plenty of people jump off a bridge and do not get hurt, then that is ok?. This sport was founded by red-necks for red-necks. Ok, if we change the name, maybe look like stock cars, what changes other than the wording? As far as educated or not, what difference does that make and I truly could care less what state a racer is from, does not mean he is better or not. Times change with everything, some choose to follow and some cannot handle the change so they do not follow any longer, just like anything else in life. Just the way it is. I did not like the way the changed the points system but it is here now so I guess I have to deal with it or quit watching, guess it grew on me. heck NHRA did the same thing but I still watch even if I would rather have it the old way. Big Dave2
Ok, if we change the name, maybe look like stock cars, what changes other than the wording? Call it what it is. It's really modified cars racing not stock cars. We don't call basketball baseball do we?BTW Harvey, the whole redneck bit was just a joke, hence the smiley face thingy at the end. Jeeez, lighten up will ya?
Big Dave2
The bigger question may be, why tempt fate? Again, if you don't like it when people take chances then why do you like the sport of racing? Anytime you get behind the wheel of a racecar you are tempting fate. Ask Dale Ernhardt. harvey lee
Whatever. Nothing wrong with racing hard, just talking about taking iffy chances. nothing wrong with taking reasonable chances, one has to at times, I personally see taking poor chances can be way to costly for yourself and the others u race. One can race hard, take chances without doing something stupid. You can race and do all the stupid moves u would like, your competitors will never think much of you for risking their life doing those high risk moves. Most racers race u the way you race them wanna take huge chances, expect something worse back.Big E died on the track taking one of those risky chances, bet if he could do it over, he would not have to give away his life. I am sure he never thought by blocking how he did it would cost him his life.I do not agree at all that anytime you take the track u are tempting fate, yes anything can happen and by making a dumb move, then yes, you are making a foolish choice. You want to elevate the risk of racing, then do stupid things and you will tempo fate all the more.Maybe you could suggest to NASCAR for them to name the sport unlike stock cars but what does that really change, a name, that's it. if you do not like cup racing with the name stock car racing, simple solution, don't watch it. I have never heard of a true race fan say they may have to stop watching or going to a race as the name is wrong. Not one till today.I could see if you did not like the COT cars, the new points system with the Chase but the name I do not like as they are not pure stock cars, you have to have a more legit reason than that. harvey lee
Grasping at straws Big Dave, what other lame excuse can you come up with, I mean really. Looks to me like the troll replies are in full force. Seems you would argue anything over this, can't accept facts????"If he would have never got behind the wheel of a race car he'd still be alive too."Some of the posts where you try to defend your statements are getting way out there at best. Not sure why I even bothered to reply to a few of your posts.

CaptainMusky
Harvey, You really are going to get this upset just because I don't agree with you about NASCAR? no, I think its more the "disagreeing" to get a rise out of people. pushbutton
First race this year was able to actually watch in it's entirety .....didn't of course because that meant no kidlet or baby mamma....so napped between 80 and 120 Agree that the last couple years have been a lot better than the preceding. The big organizations still seem to dominate, but with the partnerships, suppose some of the smaller teams have a chance??? Ok, not really. Gibbs and for sure Rousch seemed to have fallen off. Will be interesting to see what Carl does next year with the switch. Appears that Harvick is a better driver than I thought and if Tony had stayed off the dirt, spent more time in the "garage", he(harvick) might have had a shot.....suspect the "car" wont stay intact through ten races though. Looks like Lagonzo is actually legit.....for sure Penskie. Dillion and Larson have impressed. Nice even younger stable coming up as well. smduke
NASCAR you can take a 2 hour nap and not miss much. Been to two races in Vegas and the best part was the thunderbirds air show. If you want to watch a real Motorsport go watch a nhra drag race with the pros. Hands down best show.
LMITOUT
Fact still remains had he stayed in his car he'd still be alive. And if Stewart didn't take a swipe at him, allegedly, he'd still be alive too. But, the narrative here is to push the blame on Ward and away from the 3X champion, so we'll build upon that by making such rules in NASCAR and continue to ask in feigned disbelief why Ward was out on the track.Puh-lease. Not upset with you at all, simply do not understand a few statements you have made. One of your posts really lost me, figured maybe you posted it just to debate this issue as it really did not make much sense at all.
