Tony Stewart

I don't think they will charge him with anything but I will say is an already struggling stewart will never recover from this. I think his racing career is over.

I agree, no matter circumstance surrounding how it happened taking someone's life like that could take a very, very long time to recover from. Be pretty hard to have the confidence to get back in there.

If, Tony was in no way guilty of anything, only Tony knows, then he can recover from this if he tried to avoid Ward. If you honestly did all you could, then what else is there to do.

Tony would know in his mind that he tried all he could and the kid just did something he should not have and it was unavoidable.

With all the people around Tony, they will get this all figured out, it may take some time, may not be easy, but he can come back.

I know one racer who killed a person in a racing accident, it was hard but he did race again.

Many people are in car accidents that were not their fault and people died, yet they still drive.

Tony will drive but I doubt he'll have the edge he had once had. Heck, he hasn't come back that well since he broke his leg last year.

Sadly I think his Sprint Cup driving future will be as an "Also Ran". I really hope I'm wrong on that though.

With that testimony, I would guess it would be very hard to file charges on Tony saying he did it on purpose with a driver not far behind saying what he has.

I thought it was dark and you cant see out of these cars?

How in the world would he be able to ascertain this?

I see his opinion as just that and it won't have any bearing on the case if he even was interviewed by the police.

No doubt some rube on a keyboard would know better than an actual driver in the race who saw it unfold and knows how things work....

Exactly.

Headed out on the town tonight. If I had a Tony Stewart sprint car shirt I would wear it in support, but I don't, so it's a Kyle Larson sprint shirt instead. I do have a new T signed by Kyle Larson, Kasey, Kahne, Tony Stewart, and Jeff Gordon, but that one wont ever be worn.

All these years: no issue.

Star driver gets caught up in a investigation and we need to enforce the rule all of a sudden.

Common sense will tell you something is rotten in Denmark. Not for you, apparently.

BTW, the response to my last post you should have submitted was: "I just got pwnd".

Yeah God forbid a organization take steps to potentially eliminate a bad situation from their sport. Much like checking from behind in hockey . Yeah let's just police ourselves. That always works. You're clearly not an athlete younwouldnt understand

How can anyone compare what Ward did and what Hamlin did yesterday? Now that is a stretch to say the least, of course maybe one does not understand any of the real issues.

Comparing these two incidents is like comparing apples to oranges, not the same at all.

I agree...apples to oranges. Yet based on what occurred at some amateur race in Podunk New York, NASCAR said they will be enforcing the rule going forward???

So we have two completely different scenarios and NASCAR goes whole-hog on the issue of getting out of cars at NASCAR sanctioned events. OK.

That just further reinforces my point that this was nothing but a ploy to protect their golden child and keep the focus of low information public on Ward.

No, it's all about protecting the cash flow and keeping the public at large tuning in to sell ads.

When a driver gets killed or severely injured then Nascar has a history of reacting an coming up with improvement to safety.

Think of the HANS devise and the safer barriers they came up with after Earnhart bit the big one. Also, the roof flaps after said Earnhart spun Rusty Wallace out at Talledega in about 1993.They also made changes to the netting and barriers between the track and fans after an accident sent debris into the stands.

I agree with all of that, but don't see this as the same thing.

NASCAR is fully aware that the "walking on the track" issue isn't an issue whatsoever and they also know the fans love to see the emotion of the drivers, especially after a wreck. It's all part of the shtick. By the time next year rolls around this will be an afterthought and they'll be back to doing what they were doing before. It's nothing more than feel-good PR and fluff for the knee-jerk dolts asking why NASCAR isn't doing something. They had their little news conference with a wink and a nod and just like that there was peace in the valley once again, plus it gave the Ward witch hunt a base to stand on.

It'll be interesting to see if any penalties are handed down to Hamlin on Tuesday, and if not, what their excuse(s) will be.
