biggest bass

To "Big Island Dude",
Last I checked, the topic was titled "biggest Bass", not biggest bass in MN. While it is true that 10 pounders are caught in the south, not everyone can catch them. If your a pro with a 25,000 dollar bass boat and a sponsorship your odds are increased. However, for a 15 year old boy (at the time) fishing from the bank of a river, it was a huge deal. Hope this wasn't taken as being inflammitory, just filling in details.

TN,
Those are both very nice fish. 10 lbs. is a very nice bass ANYWHERE.

Part of what makes this site great is that you have a lot of input from guys in different parts of the county, including some from outside of the U.S. 50% of traffic on this site is generated from outside of MN.. Keep sharing those big fish stories TN! smile.gif Someday I'll make a trip down after one of those pigs.

I've got to bring up the question again...several of you have caught huge bass in catch and release only lakes. What if you catch a potential state record in a catch and release lake? Measure, photograph and release?? Is there anyway around the C&R only regs?
Just curious.

After reviewing 10 years of data in my log book, I regretfully admit my largest bass was not 21 3/4". It was 21 1/4". frown.gif

Oh, I am kidding. I am not unhappy about it.
It was 6 lbs 2 oz on the ol' Normark digital scale.
I can say this past bass opener was absolutely the best I have EVER experienced as far as nice fish.(Fish 18 inches and better)
So, was catching my biggest ever a better experience than catching lots of 18+ inch bass?
I can't answer that one.

I can't believe that so many of these supposed 24" bass were caught on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. Reaction bites I guess. So many long bass listed on this topic. Either a bunch of state records were released or all the bass caught were anorexic. And about that C&R lake question of a state record bass, I doubt that too many people when faced with the reality of a 9 pound Minnesota largemouth in front of them would drop her back in the lake. Not saying what I would do, just stating my opinion.

I would hope that if faced with the decision on breaking the law for a fishing record, most would make the correct decision. I know I would. What good is holding the record if you have to cheat to get it? I know there are guys who have released potential records just to keep the fish alive (that is on lakes where it is legal to keep them). I think the majority of serious bass anglers would do the right thing in that situation.

I caught a 26 1/4" bass out of White Bear Lake. It was on a 4 blade titanium spinnerbait near the marina next to the public fishing dock. Its eyes where like silver dollars! I throw back ALL my fish, so yes, even this one was thrown back in the water to swim away. Maybe a state record? I don't know and I don't care. I fish the lake alot. If you see me say hi sometime. I have an older bayliner with a mercury FORCE on the back. yeeeeEhhhA!

It wasn't me, but my nephew. Was with him today when he pulled out a 6-0, 22" LM out of Big Elbow. Used a weedless, floating mouse. Had barely hit the water when the hog hit and then it dove deep in the lillies.

#12.93 so far. I just caught it on a buzz-bait 3 weeks ago at the California Delta while pre-fishing for a tournament.

In February I was lucky enough to land a #10.92 in a team event on a senko (6", watermelon red/flake)

I don't have a pic of the 12.93 yet, but I do have one of the 10.92. Is there a place to send these pictures?

Dan

Well heres my personal best. Lake Sarah on a D.Brauer Black blue flippin tube in 5' of water in 5.6#, 20.5", in thick weeds in fact she was completly covered when I got her to the boat didnt even know how big till I unwrapped her. July 4,00, about 8am. Sarah has so many hogs in it, please remember to be courteous to residents there they dont like rocket boats out there and the shoreline erosion and all. only throw tubes under the docks or unexposed weights. theyll do anything to close that launch down. How do I post a pic on here?
