Help identifying feather

Recommended Posts

I posted this in the bird watching forum too, but I know there are a lot of informed bird people in here too...

A friend of our family's asked me if I knew what bird this came from. I don't, but I'm hoping someone in here does. It could be a tail or wing feather, I imagine, and I don't know anything about where it came from. It's approximately 10-12 inches long. That's all I know... Anyone know what bird this thing comes from?

Thanks!

Yah, this is tougher than I thought! Doubt it Pileated though....too long, even though P.Woodpecker is a big bird. It might help if we had info on WHERE it was found-habitat can clue what it might be.

I still lean toward Canada goose.
