spotty
I was out yesterday and my LX-3 just quit working midway through the day. I would turn it on and all that would show up was the red bar up on top. I quick ran into town talk to a guy at a big bait and tackle store. I told him the symtoms, he said my transducer went out. He said because Marcum uses so much wattage they just burn out. I bought it put it on...nothing come to find out to my dismay that it was my battery. My question is if Marcum's transducers go out every 2-3yrs( that's what the guy said and mine is 3yrs old) should I keep it or is it a load of bull. CaptainMusky
Sounds like he is either after selling you parts or he is a vexilar guy. My lx3 is over 5 years old and I haven't replaced the transducer yet and I know guys that have had them 10 years and never replaced a transducer. spotty
He did say Vexilar had the best transducer on the market.

Northlander
That's talk. Im on my 3rd Marcum and only had 1 ducer issue way back on my 1st LX-3 and that was my fault. It froze into a hole and I chopped into the cord. My 1st year LX-5 has never had a issue and my 2 year old 7 has been bullet proof. Sounds like a guy who is trying to sell parts and make a lil extra cash or he just has no clue.
Esox_Magnum
Ran the same LX 5 from whenever they first came out through spring of 2013 with no ducer problems. Have 2 first year LX 7's now without issues.
pikerliker
I have an LX1 that I use pretty frequently every winter that I bought 12+ years ago. Never have had to replace the transducer.
fsnrod
The problem is he probably won't take it back.
iffwalleyes
THe lx 3 had a bad batch of ducers years ago which Marcum handled awesomely. However that stigma has stuck so some people like to claim they are always bad when in fact they are not. I had a 3 that it went out on. My LX 5 was brand new in '05 and it still is going strong and has caught a pile of fish over the years. I got a 6 now that is brand new a month ago I love it so far. JSK76
Yeah, didn't they have problems along time ago and decided to start making them in house so they could control the quality and all has been good since?

harvey lee
I own 3 Marcum units and have never had a transducer issue and one unit is probably 7 years old, maybe a bit more.Sounds to me like this dumb dumb is looking to sell batteries and new units. Ran away fast from him.
