What applications do you use braided line for?

Just wondering what applications you use braided line and how heavy of line you use. I used 65lb on a frog rod. That was my only braid set up but I don't have 20 set ups like some of you do. I'm putting together more set ups so I was just wondering if maybe some braid will be in the mix more next year.

Archery season ended yesterday and now I can't sleep...long time until the ice goes.

I use 50lb on my dedicated Frog Rod.

I use 30lb on the setup I throw swimjigs, chatterbaits, small spinnerbaits along with 4" to 6" hollow belly swimbaits on swimbait hooks and 1/4 to 3/4oz jig heads.

I use 65lb for flippin and punchin

I have 30lb on a setup I use for jigs and Texas rigs.

I use braid when throwing buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, topwater, I have braid on one crankbait setup as well.

Some guys say braid and treble hooks do not match.

For dedicated technique specific setups braid has its place, as does fluorocarbon, and mono.

Over the last 2 years I have upgraded my rods and reels so I have dedicated setups.

I looked at how I like to fish and what specific techniques I like to use. I then paired rods and reels along with line choices to have specific tools for specific techniques.

Besides the baitcast techniques mentioned above, I use braid on all my spinning reels now. Dropshot rod is now 15 lb braid with a 15-20' flouro leader(8lb). Same with jigworms. I use the modified albright knot to tie leader to braid. Hasn't been an issue for me with breakoffs. The braid lasts all year and no issues with twisted flouro anymore on the reel. I use the long leader so that the knot is on the spool when fighting fish close to the boat.

I use #65 for pitching in heavy cover and punching, and for frogs. Use #40 on swim jigs, and #10 fireline on spinning for smaller jerkbaits, small crankbaits (shadraps) and wacky rigging with a jighead. Oh - and #20 on a glass rod for lipless cranks, and sometimes for cranking deep coontail in August/September.

Spinning and the glass rod I have a fluoro leader, and I guess I will put a leader on the swim jig rod at times when I'm in open water away from cover.

Dang near everything. 30lb braid on most set ups except flippin (65lb braid) and drop shot (20lb braid to a fluoro leader) which I intend on changing to 6 or 8lb fluoro. Other than that I love braid. I usually tie a fluoro leader if its a clear lake except for jigs or t-rigs cuz I don't trust a uni to uni if money is on the line. Just my preference although I intend on trying fluoro on my cranking rod next.

Most times I tie direct, except! smile

I use braid on many of my rods.( partly due to shoulder problems where I have some trouble getting a solid hook set with mono) This includes spinning and casting, with lines ranging from 2/10, 8 /30 to 80# on my muskie and frog rods. For walleye I use 2 /10 and a flouro leader.( I have proved to myself several times over it makes a difference In getting bites)I will use a magic marker to the first several feet of line if the water is clear for bass and what ever on the braid. Just saw on TV where they cut a "V" on the end of the marker to slide your line thru.( keeps the line from sliding off and getting it on you!)

I use 65lb for frogs flipping, 30 lb for worming, carolina depending on water clarity I add floro leader using modified albright. It is one know you should learn very easy to tie and has eliminated all leader to braid knot breakage I had with uni knots. I use 10 lb braid on spinning with long 10 ft floro leaders for jig worm. for drop shot i have been using nanofil 17lb in chartreuse with 10 ft floro leader with great results and no more line twist. The braid I have been using is Power Pro Super 8 slick timber brown. My crankbait rod is 10lb Seguar Invisix
