How far?

I used a cigarette butt as a sight saturday morning. Bout 1 mile into some darn cattails/thickets and i snap my front sight off plowing through some thick trees. It was only like -14 with -30 wind chill, so i had a smoke and tried to figure out what was next. Thought for a while, what could i jimmy rig for a sight and walla, light bulb moment. The broken sight left a small cavity, i rolled up my finished ciggy and stuck it in the broken sight fixture. Lined up what seemed like perfect with the broken sight...Back to walking. Figured i'd be good for a 25yd and 50 would probably be a stretch. Too bad we didn't see any deer though.

Will try ahlmans today. DOn't really want to spend $25+ on a sight that will only get used for the next 5 days but the only other choice is to quit for the season.

So I'm curious on how far people have taken deer with their muzzle loader (I realize shoot as as far as you can be accurate . I'm just curious if around 100yds is considered Ave distance.

20 plus years of muzzleloading as a family with 6 to 10 hunters. Most deer are shot under 60 yards. Some are out to around 100 paces so about hundred yards.

Nah, truth don't like bucks much.

You can sight your gun in so you don't cover your target with your factory fiber optic sights.

Set em so when you line the three dots up, bullseye is the top of the center dot, not the actual dot itself while it's covering the target.
