The Vikes were willing to release him for a head case QB, San Fran picked him up only to susqently cut him... Must be something special.... Remember Joe Webb? Just because a man has a big arm, does not make him a starting QB in the NFL... I think MBT can fade away...

Say what you will about MBT but I'd rather start him over the other guys we have on the roster. We already know they are a bunch of dung, MBT could surprise some people, it couldn't be any worse then what we put out there on Sunday anyway.

I think he deserved more of a chance than what he got with us. Coaches are so Ponder minded they didn't give him enough of a chance.

I liked the kid. He had a strong arm and a good attitude, as well, but let's not kid ourselves about what he was... A third string (or less) QB that was cut from two different teams now. Even in pre-season going against 3rd string DBs he looked pretty lost out there. Sometimes you have a diamond in the rough, but more often than not you just have rough.

We also need to keep in mind that we only saw MBT in a few preseason games, the coaches see him everyday in practice.

Even if we go by just what we saw I'm not sure how anyone can think he's worthy of starting in the NFL. Of course on the Vikings its rather meaningless so starting him won't hurt the season but he hasn't earned the chance to start. In the preseason he looked like a 3rd string QB. Against 3rd string defenses he certainly didn't look like he was heads and shoulders above them. He made a few nice throws and also made a lot of mistakes, basically what you'd expect from a 3rd string guy.

Essentially this is the Joe Webb phenomenon playing out again. We haven't seen him start so we latch on to hope that maybe he can play. Well how did that work out for Webb. The best think you can say for Webb as a QB is that he makes a half way decent WR.
