Ozonics?

Recommended Posts

I've seen some video of them doing amazing things but we are talking prime land in Iowa here, I'm not sure you would have the same results on high pressure public land. I guess if you are all in on scent control and think this will push it over the top and you have the $$$ laying around go for it.

Play the wind. That's the best way. Ozonics, sprays, scent block, etc......we all want to believe they work. But the reality is someone is making lots of money on these products and anyone who hunts a lot knows they don't always work. Some will disagree but that's my thoughts. ..

I personally wouldn't want one anywhere near where I breathe. We had a home ozone generator years back. Any plant sitting next to it had it's leaves all burned to a crisp.

You can google ozone and find out details of what it can do to your lungs. Not good.

Way too many gadgets in the field these days. What ever happened to good old fasioned woodsmanship? Do young people even know what that means any more?

Put out your scents and food blocks to lure them in. Call them to you with the latest and greatest. Hunt "dead down wind". All quick easy fixes instead of learning how to actually "hunt". Me? Not impressed...

Don't forget trail cameras!

Exactly! You don't have to know what sign even looks like anymore, much less be able interpret what it means. Just look at the pics to see what's coming past here and when.

"Whatever happened to good ol Woodsmanship?"

But you see, Don, you're smarter than the average bear. You have it looking like you saw Stick coming before he even knew he was gonna be there. wink

I've smelled overdone ozone and it makes me gag. I have to admit, it would be awesome to be undetectable to a deer's nose but I just don't know if that'll ever happen. Last weekend I went out in the morning freshly wiped, deodorized, tooth pasted, sprayed, yada yada yada, and still got scent busted. I didn't even realize the draft was going that way until I heard the snorts. I got out my handy wind checker and it confirmed what the deer already told me...

This is why I've been going smelly since 2010 and loving every minute of it, just been busted too many times to go through the hassel any more. Just me against the deer, if my setup isn't perfect they win.

Well the "new" thing under trial for us right now is smoking the clothes for cover scent. I know it's been talked about in the past but it's just been hard to wrap my mind around it.

My buddys were wall tent camping for deer hunting last year and had a wood stove malfunction that smoked em outta the tent. Well one of em doesn't scent free anything so all his stuff got it good. He claimed he had deer down wind of him several times and they didn't spook. Other buddy who's been the biggest scent freak I've known smoked his clothes before hunting this year and claims he had a couple down wind that didn't mind him.

After going through the pains of scent elimination and still getting busted, I'm about to become another tester.

I'm reorganizing and packing for this weekend and am pulling out clothes from ziplock bags that have been there since the scent free wash they had. I'm sniffing as I'm going and just realized these clothes smell like ozone! What a coincidence!

I was just asking on here last week if anyone here had been trying that. I have been reading alot about the that. I would really like to know what you guys conclude. I am on the verge of trying it myself. Good luck!

I play the wind and get high in my stands. Control scent as well as you can and you should be golden.

Yes, I get busted from time to time but all these gimmicks are what they are, gimmicks.

On TV they sound great but they are paid to push the sponsor product.

I have a buddy whose hunting party lives by smoking their clothes. Only scent cover they use and they swear by it. I use scent killer, but as I get better at my hunting, I use the wind and stand locations more than scent control. Like to thik as scent killer as a "bonus" to what I am already doing to win the battle.

Picked up one of these to keep in my Heater Body Suit - we'll see how it works. I'm not paying $400 for a contraption with a fan that I have to haul everywhere, that is for sure. This seems like a good compromise.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
