tunrevir
Harv, not sure about the rebuilds but if he looks at some of the great lakes boards like FM he may find some pretty decent deals on a used pair.Tunrevir~

Borch
I had a motor take a dump after a year of light use with a used pair of cannons. Luckily I got them really cheap. Most downriggers here in MN get pretty light use but are harder to come by.
WalleyeNordy
Are the hand cranks really a bear to use?
2thepointsetters
Are the hand cranks really a bear to use? The manual work great especially if your only going to run 2. I have four electrics now but I still miss my manuals when walleye fishing a rocky reef because the new electrics go up so fast it's hard to bump them up just a couple inches to stay in the walleye zone but out of the rocks. WalleyeNordy
Thats reassuring. I was planning on buying the manuals and then started to rethink my plan, but will get the manuals. Thanks
Ballyhoo
For LOW and light to med use, manuals are fine. It does not take that much to crank them up and down. If you are going to fish Superior or Whitefish Bay on LOW for trout, then you might want electrics because cranking a ball up from 80-100' gets old in a hurry. fry em up 2 day
Does any body know where to get a downrigger re cabled? it's a cannon, and near the twin cities?
Walleyehooker
I found a great deal on some manual riggers on c list but only use them on LOW. Doesn't take long to crank them up in 30 FOW and I didn't want the weight of electric ones anyway.
Walleyehooker
Cannon is owned by Johnson outdoors which also owns Hummingbird and Minn Kota
Jim Almquist
Does any body know where to get a downrigger re cabled? it's a cannon, and near the twin cities? I know that Marine General stocks cannon cable and it would not be that hard to re-rig.

It's just as easy as putting line on a fishing reel. Takes about 5 minutes to do.
