Brian Urlacher

I think he still has a little in the tank, maybe not an every down player anymore but used in the right places he could fill a niche. If he is willing to pass on his experence to other players that is a plus and having him onboard for some inside the Bears looks twice a year is also a plus..

The #1 thing that made him a great linebacker was his speed and quickness for his size. He was a safety in college at New Mexico. His speed and quickness just aren't there anymore. Still serviceable... but he is no longer Brian Urlacher. There is a reason he hasn't signed with anyone yet. I an live with him as a 1 year stop gap measure, but we will need to have realistic expectations.

He'd be a solid leader and play caller. He might not be as fast as he used to be but he still knows whats going on out there at all times. Same style defense so he wouldn't miss a beat. Price will be right.

Leslie said we weren't going after him because we are waiting to see if we have a guy in house that can step up, but anything coaches say is smoke and mirrors.

I don't mind either way but would like his experience out there getting guys in the right spots. Sign him for a 1 yr contract and see how it goes. He's not THE Urlacher of old but he's still atleast middle of the pack which is better then what we have.

If not I can live with that too, maybe we have a guy on the squad that can step in and ball.

From what I have been hearing this whole Urlacher "discussion" is smoke and mirrors. The person who broke the story basically has done this thing in the past to stir viewership or get people going, but there is never anything to it.

Wouldnt mind seeing Urlacher for a dime, but I am not putting much stock in the source at this point.

I understand the desire of the Vikings to continue their youth movement - but if the price is right I can't possibly see a downside in signing him to an incentive laden contract.

Our LB corp has to be the thinnest in the league. We currently don't even have a true MLB on the roster. He's in the last year or two of his career - he knows and accepts that. He's not looking to the MLB of the future for the Vikings. He seems to want an opportunity to pound on the Bears and Packers a few more times before taking off the helmet. I don't know why we wouldn't give him that chance - unless he is asking for too much - which at this point I doubt he is.

It still amazes me that when its all said and done , 35 years old is TOO OLD to be productive!.....35 and washed up , over the hill , no matter past contributions and loyalty.....Males me feel reallly , really old....... confused
