Body Cleanse

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Just wondering if any of you have any suggestions for a safe, effective body cleanse. I'm looking at doing one a couple times a year and it seems the options are endless. Don't want to get suckered into some snake-oil type of deal that's unsafe or a little sketchy.

Also, for those of you that have done a cleanse...what can I expect? Did you feel better? Lose weight?

Thanks!

I have never done one. Didn't quite see the point, from a scientific point of view.

You can expect to lose weight, if only for a little while, because not eating much and drinking a bunch of water will flush the salt out of your body and cause you to weigh less.

Remember the old commercials for the colon cleanse that would have people p@@ping out the disgusting parasites and worms? Wonder if there was any truth to that......

I am pretty sure the answer is "no". These days, not too many folks have intestinal parasites unless they been eating fresh walleye cervache.

One more modern absurdity desgigned to leverage the weak minded from their hard earned money.

Get a bottle of prune juice for $1.69 and two rolls of Charmin extra soft and take the weekend off.

Without certain bacteria in your system things won't function properly. Leave 'em alone to do their job.

A clense will help you lose weight but it will be temporary. The weight will come back once you rehydrate after the clense is over. Personally I've never done one and have no plans to do one. If you do try it out make sure to clear the calendar and stock up on some good reading material and lots of extra soft TP. You'll be in the bathroom for a couple days so make sure people know whats going on so they don't start to worry about you.

I think instead of a body clense you are better off adopting a healthier diet with lots of fruit, vegetables and lean protein.

I watched one too many of the "Dr" Natura commercials about 5 years ago and decided to give it a whirl. What an absolute joke, and waste of money, that was.

It consisted of this disgusting "shake" (the consistency of wet cement) in the morning, a bunch of pills, some tea, a "fruit punch", and a partridge in a pear tree. After about three weeks I couldn't take gagging down the "shake" in the morning, and puked it up in the sink. Never felt better than I did after heaving it up. Maybe that's the purpose?

I can tell you that for those three weeks I was never out of sight of a toilet. Skip the cleanse.

I adopted that plan about 2 years ago, so I completely agree. My goal wouldn't be to lose weight, I do that with my diet and working out 5x/week. I'd just like to cleanse my body a couple times a year, safely. I've found a couple reputable sources that look promising. I'll let you know how it goes. I've seen the 2-3 week programs...I'm not interested in those. I'm looking at a couple 48 hours programs that can be done in a weekend.

In the meantime, if anyone has any other input I'm all ears.

Thanks!

What makes you think your body needs to be cleansed? What would the cleanse accomplish? How would you know it worked?

On the other hand, people have periodically fasted, a practice that has gone on for many years. Apparently they believe it has physical as well as mental and spiritual benefits.

I have never cleansed, except preparing for a colonoscopy (which everyone should have at the recommended times) and also never fasted except when ill, or having a blood test.

So, I have no idea what the benefits might be. Although a gallon of golytely and a couple of those bisacodyls will help you lose weight and get your colon nice and clean.

Anyone who is interested, check out the BBC production "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" The show covers the host going through a variety of fasting techniques while being monitored by the Doctors. They go into HIS results, and HIS experiences. I found it to be insightful at the very least. I wouldn't call it an end all be all by any stretch on the matter, but it does go into some of the benefits/problems.

I would talk to your doctor versus us. grin Lol. But seriously, I had some digestive issues awhile back and a couple of colonoscopies where you get cleaned out beforehand with some nasty salt tasting stuff you have to drink. And afterward, the oncologist suggested taking one dose of Metamucil or whatever laxative like Mirolax once a day. It doesn't make you run for the toilet but just keeps you regular and that helps keep your colon healthy. Good luck.

"Except preparing for a colonoscopy (which everyone should have at the recommended times)" + Metamucil + healthy diet high on fruit, veggies and lean protein. Colonoscopy saved my life! Being a Colon Cancer survivor I'll say it's the only way to go. Also try and stay away from all the soda's and mysterious chemicals in some drinks.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
