Henderson moves to middle??????

Just read that the Vikings are planning on moving Henderson inside to play middle linebacker and open the outside for competition for the OLB's on the roster. Not really sure what they are thinking here. If he was good enough to be an ILB, then why didn't they put him there instead of Brinkley? Henderson isn't much of an outside backer, so why would that make him a good inside backer. I just don't see him having the ability to play there.

His name has come up in here a couple times. Nobody can figure out what the team sees in him. I don't think he has the talent to even be in the league let alone compete for the starting mlb.

The guy should be disqualified for all consideration based on the nine years we had to endure atching his brother fill the wrong hole on run plays or getting beat by a speed burning tight end in the flat. I guess he gets the job by default since their are limited to no options.

We will have to agree to disagree on EJ. I thought he had several good years before his injuries. Erin on the other hand, is not the linebacker that EJ was. I agree that Erin is a stop gap. I think he may do better at Mike than Will. He played middle in college, but I highly doubt he will be the long term answer.

I'm sure this is a stop gap measure and he won't be out MLB for the next 5-10 years.

We filled alot of holes through the draft and free agency but we had to many holes to fill them all. I think we also have limited cap room to go out and sign someone given that we have 3 first round picks that need to get paid yet, so you have to work with what you got.

Perhaps after we sign our 3 first rounders we'll have a clearer picture of our cap space and then maybe we can talk about bringing in a free agent. But even if we go that route it will still be a stop gap meausre as a long term solution just isn't out there right now.

My hope is that a stronger front 4 and better secondary the weakness at LB won't be exposed quite as bad as last year. Rarely can you put a defense out there that doesn't have a weak link. Its a matter of minimizing the exposure to that weak link.

Henderson is a good special teams player... thats where he SHOULD be. Starting MLB is laughable, but thats what the reality of it is after trading up to get patterson. We addressed WR, CB and DL instead of LB. I dont like it at all, but I guess he really cant be any worse then brinkley was. Put that one under the category of you cant fix everything all at once...

We had 4 needs going into the draft. Unfortunately we didn't have 4 1st round picks. We filled 3 of the 4 needs. I think some of our late round linebacker picks have a chance to be decent starters someday. Time will tell. But for now...our linebackers won't be any worse than last year. DB's and D-line will be better than last year.
