I might be able to make this. Do they rent spear houses there or do you bring one. I have a hub style I could possibly make work with a dark tarp over it.

no rentals on john clearwater maybe, i wouldnt be suprised if someone had a extra house if you needed to borrow one for the event. I plan to pre-spear it a few times gotta get my trophy back

I havnt speared for a long time since I moved to Mpls from up north many years ago. But we speared a lot back then. I see looking threw some of the pics some guys use the hub style to spear so I should be OK. Ill have to pick up a decoy or 2 and maybe a sucker harness and I will be good to go.

what do you mean get the trophy back. I'm coming to get it. that is if beginners luck is on my side that day. just hoping for no unexpected change of plans(this has been my luck lately).

I just picked up a Clam Bigfoot XL2000 with the intent of this being what I plan to spear out of this year. the black interior seems to be dark enough for spearing. may have to make a test trip on christmas day to the lake down the road from my place.

Once again I',m out as school is on saturdays this spring semester and you guys can breath a sigh of relief as I won't be taking the trophy back to my house where it sat for 3 years

Looks like I should be open that weekend and its not that far from me. Do any of you guys sell decoys that will be there? Is that a lake you should be able to drive to a spot to set up or do you guys bring sleds or wheelers?

Sometimes there are guys that sell decoys at the

events.

If there isn't you can sure borrow some of mine

Thanks for the offer. Where do you guys buy your decoys online or store? When I moved I gave my spear house and all my stuff to my neighbor.

I've been getting mine from a few guys on this site and at decoy shows.

I'm going for quality not quantity from now on.

Depends on the lake but were normally fairly close to each other. You don't have to be though you can go wherever you like.

Just got setup out here very dirty water sitting in about 7 foot can't see the bottom decoys only about 2-3 foot down

has anyone checked out the clarity on Maple (east side off co rd 37). that could be a possible back up spot if John is to dirty. or how about Ida (west of monticello), there is some nice pike in there.
