BuckSutherland
Wonder how big the lawsuit against MSU and Blue Earth county is going to be. They really drug this guy through the mud. Wonder if he will coach again.
flipper
I feel sorry for the guy. As far as I can see, he did nothing wrong. I hope he sues their buttocks off.

KMR85
According to lawyer guy on KFAN's Bumber to Bumper show this afternoon the coach doesn't have much legal recourse to go through with. Maybe if MSU decides to still try and let him go for whatever reason he could file a lawsuit against them. It stinks for the coach because he will still have some lawyer fees to pay from this. The team is still in the div II playoffs too. I'd feel bad if he can't make it back to the sidelines while they're still in it.
fishersofmen
I find that hard to believe, must have been Rosenbomb talking nonsense again. I hope the guy in the I.T. department who started this garbage feels good about destroying this family.
MUSKY18
I'm pretty sure he can bring a civil suit against all parties involved. Doesn't matter what the outcome of the criminal court is.
PurpleFloyd
They should pay for what they put him through.
Antero
I'm pretty sure he can bring a civil suit against all parties involved. Doesn't matter what the outcome of the criminal court is. He can sue in civil court....does not mean he will win tho.As far as the IT person...he saw naked pictures of kids. He brought it to the authorities. Should he have ignored them ? fishersofmen
Maybe not. Maybe he could have initially talked with the coach himself? Thats how everything was done before the masses started believing the government should run everyones lives. Sounds pretty obvious there was nothing perverted going on here. Everyone on the planet by now should have a good idea of how the "authorities" can handle things many times. This isn't the first time Big Brother has steped in and destroyed peoples lives. Antero
Again....the IT guys responsibility is/was to report it to the proper authorities. They goofed up in charging/making it public. You do recall Penn State don't you?
fishersofmen
Yea I recall Penn State. A guy walked in on the coach raping some kid and should have called the cops on the spot.To compare the two situations is quite humorous though.P.S. Thanks for proving my point on how the authorities handle things, they did a wonderful job with that one.Antero, if you were looking through some pics on your co-workers phone because he was showing you something and you accidentally stumbled upon some pictures of his children with their clothes off would you call the authorities or would you simply talk with him and try to get a better understanding of the situation before you made a reaction? Be honest.......
James_R
To arrest a well known college football coach in front of his whole team and faculty, hold a press conference with multiple news outlets touting your unwavering commitment to protecting children, force the defendant to pay tens of thousands in legal bills........and then after he spends months twisting in the wind the authorities wait until the public starts to forget about the incident and they suddenly announce that the case is dismissed hoping we won't notice how reckless and stupid they have acted. Musky Buck
Time to go video my kids dancin nude for a minute if it will line my pockets for life. I can handle the negative in this society we won't remember this story by christmas unless it drags on.
Scott M
The I.T. guy did the right thing. Rosenbaum on KFAN said the duty is with the county prosecutor on whether to proceed. To have the judge throw it out, which rarely happens, makes the prosecutor look bad. That's the person that should be taking some heat here. Hoffner got a raw deal because he's out thousands, has to have lingering grief, and will lose no matter what in the court of public opinion. Just because its not something you or I would record on our phones doesn't make it illegal. Touchy subject but one that wasn't properly evaluated by the DA, IMO. Dave S
Bottom line is he had nude videos of his kids on a school issued phone. The IT person did their job and reported it. There is absolutely no legal grounds for a suit against MSU. They can, and probably will fire him and there's nothing he can do about it. It was a stupid decision on his part to record such a video on a phone that didn't belong to him in the first place.Guilty or not, he did this to himself. He made his bed, time for him to lay in it!!!!!!
TwinkeeDink
LEP, thats the stupidist thing I've heard anyone say on this topic. You're obviously not a parent and don't understand the idea behind family. Evey looked at one of your childhood family photo albums? I'd be willing to bet there's a picture of you and you're siblings or cousins in the bathtub, or on the "potty," heaven forbid in a towel after bathing before putting jammies on. Come on man.I.T. guy probably made the right call informing his authorities. I think MSU AD guy Buisman should also be put on the hot seat in this matter for not taking the appropriate steps even BEFORE getting law enforcement involved. Use some common sense folks.
