DRH1175
Anyone try a Split shot test with their Marcum or Humminbird? I saw a video from vexilar. They had all 3 side by side to show how much better the Vex was than the other two. They say how it is an un biased test. Yet don't show either of the competition units. I Own a Marcum LX-5 and know what it is capable of. Wasn't too impressed with the test video.
brian6715
Someone on here tried to organize a flasher showdown where we could test all of them, but there wasn't enough interest. I would be willing to attend this year to show how dominant an LX-7 is
OnAFly
Finally, we'll end this Ford vs Chevy...I mean Vexilar vs Marcum debate
bobbymalone
my vex says that's two sinkers and your marcum says it's only one, obviously I have the advantage here and will catch more fish.

leech~~
Weeeell we tried to setup a "Flasher Shoot Out" last winter using this same test. But after all the talking no Marcum guys would show up!
fisherman-andy
Here's the controversial video from youtube: http://youtu.be/JMdVodE2bXk - I like it how the competitor units are set there but are never ever turned on or shown a chance to display the same controlled test. Then mentions that their inferior as far as comparison to Vexilar. But then again its a VEXILAR video. The resolution display on the FL22 doesnt even seem to separate the target lines clearly or cleanly. At times showing it as one?

fishersofmen
Many of us have known for years how Vexilar is superior to the others, however that video was incredibly stupid.
DTro
A little birdie told me that lawyers kept the competition part of that video from being shown.

OnAFly
Does anyone on here actually use their flasher to know when a fish is hitting, as opposed to feel or watching the rod tip? Honestly, as long as the flasher can show me fish, weeds, and bottom content I'm a happy camper. The rest is bells and whistles, in my opinion. hamms-scooter
I was told the same thing by a super reliable source. They couldn't show the other units unless there was a marcum rep there and h-bird guy there. He said that anyone of us could do the same test and post it on you tube but they could not without the reps. Who cares about this dump anyway. Your flasher doesn't set the hook for you... I don't care if the target separation is 1 mm at some point your looking at that line or rod tip to make the final move. Pick a unit use it and get on with it. AMEN!That being said, as soon as my signal turns red my attention turns to my rod tip . My preference is marcum but what i really think is that once u become accustomed to which ever flasher u have they are all the same. They are all good units. Crappyfisherman
Wish we could all get along. All the brands are very good and just keep getting better.Would not mind fishing with any of them.I'm a Vexilar guy, been one since they first came out.Got a H.B.55 so my wife could fish with me.Think back if you are old enough to remember ice age fishing,5 gal.bucket,chisel.jiggle stick. My first ice fishing locator was a Humminbird Super 60 with a bubble level on the transducer and a motor cycle battery.
