Anyone here follow this team this year?? How in the world do you win games with such an unbalanced offense? One pass thrown last game and over 50 runs...I would think teams could just stack the box and sell out to stop the run being they arent huge upfront?? Must have a real good defense?

Thats EXACTLY how you win games in high school football. Passing is for the NFL.

Finally have a chance? This was the first year they've played in the same class. I can't remember the 2010 season, but Hutch is 3-0 against GSL the last 2 years. Both games this year were at least a 20 point spread. I believe next year will be the same result when both teams meet.

GSL has won over Hutch more like 75% of the time, at least since 2000 when GSL went undefeated and won their first state championship. Even when GSL was 3A they played many 4A schools, Orono, Waconia, St Michael-Alberville, Becker, Hutchinson and won much more often than not. It was a down year for GSL and an up year for Hutch.

I agree it was a down year for GSL, but it wasn't that much of an up year for hutch IMO. They got to the state quarterfinals & dome a lot prior to switching to section 2aaaa a few years ago. Then they would get destroyed by Mankato west in the section finals. Now that class 6a formed a lot of the teams that would beat them in section finals or at state in the past have moved up to class 5a. If GSL can get back to what they were and Hutch can maintain what they are it will make for some good conference football in the coming years.

Hutch was always 4a. GSL moved up. And apparently you guys dont know the history of the two teams. GSL has beaten them plenty over the past decade and eventually will again. I think GSL probably won at least 60% of the time.

My bad. Mankato West plays Hutch quite often at the beginning of the year and so I assumed Hutch moved back a class with the new section alignments this year.

BassNSpear won a GSL title in 2000 and refs high school football, he's got a pretty good pulse on Wright County Conference football. Yes, it's true GSL moved up a division and Hutch stayed pat in 4A. But what is lost is that nearly all of the good teams in 4A moved up to 5A. Totino steamrolled Hutch the last time they went to state with Swift and Murtha and would have done the same this year. Classes are what they are, and you have to tip your hat to Hutch in 4A, they won it going away. GSL will be back, they will be looking up at Hutch for a year or two though.
