child23
I am looking at doing a couple weekend bow hunting trip next year with my brother and probably a cousin or two. Where would you choose to go if you could hunt anywhere in the state?
sticknstring
What are your goals? If I wanted the woods to myself and be able to hunt grouse in the afternoon or jig for some walleyes, I'd head up north around one of the state forests and camp. Probably won't see a lot of deer or much for trophy size during archery season, but you'll have solitude in the bigwoods. If you're looking at taking a few deer and have a chance at a trophy, I'd venture down to the southeastern part of the state in bluff country. Public land is at a premium, but the tradeoffs can be worth the effort.
Jeff13
I'd get into some northern mn public land and go deep in away from people. Might not see a lot of deer, but there are some true swamp monsters that never get hunted.

monstermoose78
Apply for camp ripley! Chance of seeing big bucks is good
child23
My goals as of right now is to get out and see a new area. Would like to have the possibility of seeing a decent buck but that's not mandatory. Right now I am in the heart of the tb zone and deer are few and far between. Basically what I am looking for is reasons why you hunt the areas you do or why you would like to hunt a certain area.

SmellEsox
Check out the public land north of Duluth. Some dandies up there and lots of public land to hunt grouse. Next year the deer season won't open until the 9th so you'll get a good stretch to hunt w/o the gun hunters.
archerystud
If you want a monster....Iowa. Seriously, I'd probably go North especially if you are looking at public land. Might not see a lot of deer but if you could find a big one he might be more huntable.
maros91
How could you not go to SE MN? Year three of APR's. Chance of seeing a good buck there are better than anywhere else.
sportfish
The whole state has good bucks , you just have to put ur time in cause they are few and far between .. as far as state land SE or central
CC Hurl
If it were me...SE for sure. Not sure what the public lands are like down there though compared to else were. Living here in East Central MN I would consider the public lands as busy and hard to get away from others. That is only what I hear though so don't quote me on that.Good luck on your search.
