What is your favorite Ice Fishing shelter.

My preference would be sitting out on the ice with no shelter. Nice sunny day, one of those weird ones where it gets up to the mid or high 30s, no wind. That's the best. I don't like being cooped up in a shack.

Otherwise, it really depends on what the plan is that day. by myself I'll bring the one man, with the wife or a buddy I'll bring the denali II (I do love that thing), with a group of friends into the 6 man pop up.

I'm not a fan of perms. I mean, they are fun and all, but I ice fish to ice fish. Not watch the game in a pair of shorts waiting for a rattle reel. If you aren't just a bit cold, it's not ice fishing wink

Whatever you can afford that fits the style of fishing that you can afford on a lake that makes it possible to afford. If you got 20 grrr, and at least a 3/4 ton.... go for the big dog.....don't mind Bobby's utilitarian penance, why not enjoy the comforts of life, while still being able to catch fish. If you have a sled or wheeler, get a nice flip over and go just about anywhere and stay warm and dry. Don't have horsepower...get a nice lightweight portable. Yes you will be more limited, but still should have access to plenty of fish and still not have suffer through the norwegian self flogging smile

i like my one man flip over for single trips. spear shack stays out till seasons over. i did buy a small homemade wheel house this year hoping to get my handicapped mother out and maybe some neighbor kids. i however do not like the skid houses to heavy hard to move.

I think most will agree that there is no one house that is best for all uses. I really like my Jason Mitchell thermal X, but in the same breath, I'm shopping for a hub.

+1 for a bucket on a warm sunny day. Sometimes the ambiance of ice fishing gets obscurred by all the gadgets.

I like my 6.5 x 12 Yetti, finally after 9 years my semi disabled husband can come with me again. I have had to ice fish mostly by myself because he couldn't get out in a portable with me. I am getting a clam Kenai flipover for myself, I do go fishing with some of my gal friends so that will be perfect.
