2012/2013 Ice Fishing Destinations

Just curious where everyone is headed for ice fishing trips this winter? Saying close or making mad dash weekend runs?

so far we have Red, LOW, Bemidji and a green back trip lined up.

For the last 7 years it has been local (cities) day trips and 3 Red weekend trips with the wheelhouse. This year I can't commit the time to Red and I am switching to Mille Lacs for most of my trips. Going to give it a good year long try to learn that lake a bit!

Took my 9 year old to the big pond last year, he is not gonna play basketball this year so we might be making some one day trips for sure this winter. With his brother tagging along, daddy is gonna need a new flasher

We always do an early ice (first couple days the resorts let atv's out) on LOW. We usualy hit up Winnie on the way back.

Back several years ago would do a couple trips a Winter and hit up Mil Lacs, Winnie, Red, and LOW.

With a our first baby dew in a week! I am not sure about any trips or even close lakes but I hope momma will let me out of the house. But would really like to make a trip to LOW wish me luck! lol

I will stay local for most of the season chasing bluegills and crappies. I have it planned to hit up the sauk chain as much as possible for some ice kitties and then make a run to the Alexandria Area once during early ice to try some new lakes and a different part of the state. I hope to maybe fit in a run up to Mille Lacs(I hate to admit it but I have never ice fished on Mille Lacs before in all my 36 years of life)

If Mille Lacs gets some good ice early I may hit it a couple times. So far have the annual late ice trip up to Oak Island on LOW booked for a couple days of walleye fishing and a couple days for big Pike. Might try to get up there for early ice to.

I am going to to put so many miles on the wheel are going to fall off the truck... chase down every roomer, and just plain fish all winter...

ML, red, LOTW, hopefully superior and im trying to find 3 more to go in on a trip to Winnipeg, other than that the alex area, gull, and local lakes

Id really like to hit Devils lake for some big greenbacks and perch. Also have a LOTW trip I wanna do as well.

I will hopefully pound some metro lakes. I have a few spots I stumbled upon last winter that I can't wait to try early ice. And then hopefully I'll head to Mille Lacs once or twice, make my first trip to LOTW, and then it's my goal to fish in a big ice fishing event/tournament this year.

I hope to try Red this year. Never been there, the last few years I keep trying to organize to get there but it keeps falling apart. Maybe this year. Otherwise with my boy in Hockey, I won't be traveling too far. I hit up the FL-CH area lakes quite a bit though.

I have a 16 y/o son who comes out with me sometimes to ice fish for a few hours on 'Tonka, but it's not really his "thing." Last night I said to him that we should do a father-son trip this winter and rent an ice house on a lake up north some weekend. He said, "That sounds like solitary confinement to me."

mille lacs for sure and one weekend trip to low, aside from a bunch of local trips. im also gonna do one spearing trip with some friends.

LOW Dec 26th-30th and then a couple of trips to Red with Kelly and Jonny in Jan and Feb and if weather holds back to LOW in March. Red should be very good this year with the new slots

Been doing sleeper shacks on URL the past couple of years. Going to try something different this year and make a run for Devils Lake with the wheelers and portables. That will be the big trip between Christmas and New Years. Also planning to take in a tournament in Brainerd and one on Mille Lacs. Most everything else will be within an hour or two of home.

If my finances don't fall apart from all my hubby's surgeries I plan on basing my wheelhouse on Red, fish Winnie, Chequamegan Bay, Greenbay, maybe a few other Wi locations, and some of my local lakes with my portable.

Bunch of local lakes in central mn, devils lake in march like always. Would like to make an early trip to devils once to try it on early ice,have to wait and see.

Metro area, annual trip to the Ely area mid-January and a half dozen or so trips to ML including defending our win of last years' DU tourney
