I'm just going off what I see but I don't think this guy has 60 days of growing left. It seems like the older bucks pack on a lot of inches in May and June and then slow down in July and almost stop growing in Aug. Youngers bucks tend to start a little later (putting energy into their bodies) and still do some decent growing in July and early Aug.

There are plenty of deer that don't apply to these rules but I have seen to too many times to call it an accident. This buck looks like a stud already and I think he could put on an inch or two but at a much slower pace.

I seen a big buck in late June where I found a big shed this spring... I put a camera on an old mineral stump I have there a month ago and just checked it yesterday (which is WAY too long for me)!!! I had ZERO pics because my gosh-durn card wasn't formatted or something madmad And of course the site was destroyed with big tracks everywhere! Ill get him yet! wink

Haven't seen him yet. I had him right around 160".

I have a hunch I left one of my Bushnell's on setup mode last Friday when I checked cards... not a good feeling!

Checked last night. I was right, although it was wasn't on setup mode. I forgot to put an SD card back in! mad Luckily, I only missed 6 days, rather than a full 3 weeks.

I figured I may as well finish what I started. I think some of you may appreciate the ending to the story.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

By mid- July I saw how BIG "Allbrows" was getting and I didn't want to post too many more pics of him. I love sharing this stuff... but I do get a little hesitant on a public forum.

Anyways, it doesn't matter now because ALLBROWS IS DEAD! So to pay tribute to him I will at least let his monstrosity grace these pages!

Thanks everyone for enjoying him along with me!

Heres where I left off...

And FINALLY...

full-14474-26701-img952982.jpg

My neighbor got him on the morning of November 4th. A nicer, more deserving fella couldn't have shot him! Hes been a local landowner all his life. Hes in his late 50's or so and this is his first "wallhanger" so he was very proud!

Allbrows was an "average" size (maybe 190 lbs) 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 year old deer... we still arent 100% on his age? My buddy quickly rough scored him at 175 4/8 Gross! Hes a beautiful and amazing animal!!!

Happy hunting!

Thanks for letting us all in on your story, great pics too. Sure looks like a real trophy and it's respectable that your happy for your neighbor. Alot of guys would be mad that they didn't get it themselves, just reminds ya that they are wild animals and don't belong to anybody. Hope ya have another one growing to keep us entertained next year!

Thanks for sharing Slim. Kudos to you for being happy for the hunter who tagged him. Too many folks think they own the deer now a days and it is great to hear you are supportive of your neighbors good fortune. Hopefully he has plent of offspring in the gene pool.

Any chance you can fill a novice in on how you get such great pictures?? Your pictures are awesome.
