3 Toms fighting over a lone hen this morning, the large group of toms in the area is busted up pretty good now. Almost more Toms/Jakes around than hens so they are off looking, haven't been hearing gobbling,or many grouse drumming or many roosters cackling, yet.

QTM? Quality turkey management more toms then hens laugh

Just got back from NE scouting. Birds are broken up there and breeding. One hen is already on the nest in land owners yard. Going to be tough hunting up here when I go. NE should be ok for the time we are going.

Right on Mr. Klean, that pic still gives me a creepy randy moss every blue moon nightmare. I'm actually pretty sure going by winter turkey numbers and seeing them daily there are more toms and jakes than hens around in this area meaning 3 sections of land, every morning now they're on the gravel road and few if any ever drive it so they are comfortable, same 3 toms but today they had a harem of about 6 hens with last years broods. Deal is though quite a few of the toms have left in hopes of finding their own hens and area to claim. So it's shifting now with less Toms around, in that nasty weather last night before dark had a lone tom at our bird feeder and he had the nastiest beard I've ever seen, it wasn't black, it looked more like stringy plastic hanging there, anyone seen that before, if he comes tonight I'll take a close up picture of it, it's kinda gross enough knowing he's around I'm not sure I'd take that guy if given the chance.

No gross beard, he may have been in the 9 pack of toms across the road though last night, sure enough this AM, 3 toms working the harem again. Ol gross beard that thing is like a foot long and maybe I got him on digi camera before, will check that tonight when they were coming as a 25 pack of toms.

Lots of guys do to help pattern them. I pattern mine from a distance or based on sign. I never bring a call with me. If you know where they want to be it's a lot easier getting them there.

Does anybody use trail camera's for turkey hunting?

I never have, but this year I am going to. This morning we scouted a new property, heard 2 different gobblers and had some hens roosted in another area. Put a couple trail cams on logging roads to see what's up. I think it will provide some pretty good information

My bushnell trophy cam has a "field scan" feature where you can have it take a pic whenever you want (every 5 mins during daylight for example) so I am going to go place that near a field with a strutting zone to get some intel

I don't use them for scouting as I hunt quite a ways from home and I'd be worried about theft.

I'll be bringing one along during my hunt to record any action out in front of the blind. I run a video cam from inside, but it would neat to have different video angles of the shot.

This morning was something I've never seen yet in the turkey world, it was game on, roughly 30 toms puffed up, dozens of others, 1 hen being bred for sure, and from the same spot on the gravel at a stand still could easily see geese, mallards, pheasants and deer, it was a wow on the road this morning a 1/2 mile from the mailbox, could inside the cab hear the roosters cackling, the turkeys were really wound up, wish I could've stayed a few more minutes and watch all of that unfold.

Happy sad happy sad now happy, I got lucky and applied correct, I applied where 0 birds were and now they are showing up, the 25 pack of toms in my yard all winter has now left the area almost completely and I'm seeing them a mile or so down the road, got lucky I didn't apply there not that there won't be any around but my gut instinct paid off, now to close the deal 507 C. Hearing some gobbling and each morning the same Toms are fluffed up with the harem. Satellite Toms are being drawn into the area also, I'm amazed how huge they look when I'm coming down the road and then when they start to run down the gravel how back to normal they get in a hurry.
