Simnple yes or no.... New question - Bill introduced to allow baiting for 65+ year olds

Recommended Posts

I feel if you have hunted that long, you should have learned enough over the years to get a deer without bait.

Some days the hours in the stand get long for all of us but why use bait?

NO WAY.

When I am 65 if I make it that long, I will be more than happy to just get a chance to get out.

Maybe we can also allow baiting for archers over 60 since it gets harder to archery hunt. That way I can use bait in 2 more years. wink

I want a rule just for me. wink

See these replys on the judgement of letting a senior maybe get a easier time of it. Just would like to ask all of you who are so up in arms on this if you have food plots. How can you say that is not baiting? You plant them to attract deer, thus you bait. Now you will all rave on the differance, but you bait with a food ctop or a bag of corn, end result to attract deer---Baiting.

Deer herds in Wisconsin are doing alright aren't they? They also allow more lines when fishing. Seem to have just as good of fishing and hunting as we do. That being said, I'd vote no, as others have stated enforcement would be a nightmare, and we shouldn't be giving advantage to any specific age group.

rayguy,

Dont turn this into a baiting vs foodplot issue.

This issue is more about the MESS it would create for enforcement in my eyes.

An example is how do you enforce a 65 year old sitting over a spot that was baited per this proposal, and what does he do with his 12 year old grandson that wants to sit and hunt with him? Technically the kid would be in violation of the baiting law.

For that matter, what about your entire hunting party? One guy thats 65+, uses this new rule, it would put the entire party into a situation where they would be breaking the law.

Yes, we have food plots and my 66 year old dad sits near one if he would like. Thats not the argument here. grin

No way, not right now anyway, I'm not 65 yet, maybe when I get there. Just kidding of course. Just the way society is going, everybody gets a trophy or a positive outcome. Soon the dnr will be expected to deliver some venison packaged right to our doors. Far fetched I know, but does everyone have to succeed at every endeavor they partake in to call it enjoyable.
