live4chrome
hey, I caught this guy reeling in a walleye a few years back. I would really like to get a repo but did not get girth measurements. Is there a way a taxidermist/repo artist can repoduce this fish with just the piicture?
JeffB
I'll take a shot in the dark. 40" length, 22" girth weighing in at 19.5 lbs. That fish looks like it has good girth for its length. Can you at least tell us the lenght of the fish. By the way nice fish and nice pic.
leech~~
I think Jeff is just about right on his guess-o-mit! You do know that it is going to be about $3-4 bills to do a Repro on a fish that size?
reinhard1
i do not know the current prices for reproductions. about 10 years ago i paid somewhere over $300 to get a 31 inch walley done. it was done with pictures and we measured it before releasing it. turned out great. it was caught by my x soninlaw and i paid for it. that is a very nice pike. good luck. LEECH21
I have a 40" pike repo getting done as I type. Artistic Anglers out of Duluth. Check out there HSOforum. Yes if you give them the pics and guess on the length and girth they should be able to make it. If you can wait a month or so to order it, I can post pics when I get mine. Mine is $12.50 an inch plus $50 for driftwood and prolly another $50 for shipping....so a little more than 3-4 bills
LEECH21
Here's my 40" X 19.5" for comparision
reinhard1
that's an awesome pike as well!!!good luck.
live4chrome
43". For size comparison this fish completley engulfed the 15" walleye I was reeling in in one bite. In the pic the walleye is in its mouth, you cant tell its there, but it is. Just goes to show how big it really is. I have caught plenty of 20 lb pike fishing in the Northwest Territories, and this one seemed closer to 25. It was just so FAT.
JeffB
Knowing its length is 43" it could easily go 25lbs. It sounds like you've caught a few nice pike, so talk to a taxidermist and go with your gut. It seems like all the charts and formulas on the net are different. Sorry for under guessing your fish, but its darn tough on just a pic, and I'm no expert just wanted to make a guess. again great fish
reinhard1
it could very well be 25 pounds. i have one mounted that is 42 inches and went 23 pounds. good luck.
JPenny
That's a great pike and congratulations. Reproduction mounts, while a bit more expensive at first, are actually an investment in heritage and not just from the benefits of C&R. Skin mounts only last about 20 years before they start to deteriorate. Repros last forever. Think about this, Your greatgrandson will look at that mount long after you are gone and think his greatgranddaddy caught that beautiful fish. A repo is going to look great while a skin mount will by then be changing colors, the fins will split and it's not going to be very impressive to anyone. Which one do you want your greatgrandson looking at? No doubt you can get a reproduction done and I agree with the earlier post that Artistic Anglers would be an excellent choice. I have 3 of their mounts and can tell you they know their business. There are other guys doing reproductions, Rick Lax and Joe Fittante come to mind, but I think the mounts done by Artistic Anglers are more lifelike. Plus, they are guaranteed for your lifetime. LEECH21
Well said JPenny! Hey, what species of repos did you get from AA? Is it possible for you to post pics of them?
solbes
I'm absolutley drooling over those 2 pike that were posted. Great fish guys!
JPenny
I have 2 pike and a bluegill from AA and all are great mounts. I caught the pike, but my wife bought me the 'gill as a gift. It's a repro of the All Tackle bluegill that weighed in at over 5 lbs. While I didn't catch this great fish, I sure had fun messing with the local sportswriters mind with it. Took a photo out on the ice pulling up that bluegill and word spread like wildfire after we sent it to him with no note just the photo. I'll try to get a photo of these mounts posted. Gordie
That is a really nice pike and congrats last time I checked on repro's it was around $12.00 a inch but I'm sure there is someone who does it cheaper and I think the a good repo artist could do it with the length and girth I would see what the DNR weight conversin for a 25lb fish is L and G and that should get you really close to what you need. One things for sure You wont forget that fish ever anyway you have it done.
Boar
That fish is an easy 43 maybe 45 an at least 25 lbs, Having caught many pike on LOW an several over 40 to 42 1/4 an witnessed 43s an 45's I would feel comfertable guessing that, its twice the width of ur shoulders, use ur body for size comparisons, That is the one of the greastist pike's Ive ever seen, I love how the green bleeds to a light green before the white belly, truly a magnificent pike. Sorry jeese, make ur pike look small, lol, Hows it going? Boar

Bigguyone
Chrome: That fish has an amazing deep green color - NICE FISH! Here is a 43" (skinny fish as was early season) one from last year the wife caught - we ended up with 8 over 42" with 44.5" the biggest. Chrome's looks bigger!
