Fun day on the ice today! The fishing was much better than the catching, but we scraped up enough to have a nice meal. Nice seeing everyone and congrats to those that went home with some goodies. I have a bunch of videos and pictures to put together for a more detailed report.

Yes, DTro, as well as Gordie, and Borch did a great job making this a good time for all. Although the fishing was not stellar, Jr. and I iced only a couple of catfish and some Nemo sized crappies, the day was a success because of the camradery and some great food. While I only had to drive 25 minutes or so, some people like Eric, Justine, Rick, and Joe had to get up pretty early to attend this event, and it was appreciated. Also a special thanks to all the members that showed up, contributing to the feast and great conversations; it was nice to put some more faces behind the names! By the way, between the beans and vennie chili, my young son was rather odiferous the rest of the day, he thought that was pretty cool .........

It was nice to visit with everyone again. the food was as good as always. the beans and chili didn't hit me until I got home. atleast I didn't get totally skunked like the last two year (ended up catching 2 crappies). Borch maybe you should make the date change permanent. seems like more fish where in the area then is in March. also keep long lake as a back up to horseshoe. Long was a nice lake. it was the first time I have been on Long.

I had a great time at my first cool cats. I stuck out the evening and ended up with two catfish for my efforts and missed a few others. All the action came after dark.

Thanks to everyone that provided the delicious food. It was great seeing some familiar faces and meeting a few new ones.

What a fun day! I didn't manage to catch any fish, but missed a few. Probably would have done better if I had spent a bit more time fishing and less standing out on the ice chatting with everyone, but it was so nice to visit with everyone! Thanks for the shuttle service and the laughs, Gordie, and way to go Dtro and Jeff on such a great event. I'll have Eric post some fun pics later today. Alas, I forgot to take a picture of the cute fishing cupcakes. What a neat idea! All of the food was wonderful.

It felt so great to be back out on the ice! A day like that makes it tougher to buckle down and get some chores done around the house today - knowing there are fish out there calling my name and saying "Ha! You missed me! I dare you to try again!"

Good times. It was a long tiring drive home but was worth it. Always good to see old friends and make new ones on the ice. Justine had the camera working and snapped a couple pics of the festivities.

Who needs to walk when we have Gordie-mo-bile.

Rick's very own HSO soup kitchen. Complete with beans, BACON, chili, and of course the totally yummy fishing cup cakes.

Dad, this spot isn't good enough, let's move. Let's move again, and again, and again.....Time to go home now.

Now this is weird, but at times, some people actually fished.

I had a good time it wad nice meeting some new people, thanks to everyone involved in the planning and the food donations, the food prep and the cooking I think that chilli could make world-famous status, also thanks gordie for the ride too and from shore.

It was alot of fun for sure. Great seeing everyone and as usual the food was unbelieveably good as was the company. Thanks to Gordie for being the limo driver. Also thank to Justine and DTRO for taking all those great photos of the action.
