Icehouse Bob Memorial Cool Cats 2012 Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I'll sweeten the deal a bit. As a tribute to Icehouse Bob I'll add a nice set of forceps. Bob was the guy who handed out hundreds of forceps at our Cool Cat events. They always came in handy for unhooking those tough jawed channels. I'll also add some Lindy tackle

I was out on long a few weeks back and got 1 nice kitty but fishing a different area.

I found plenty of hungry cats on my short scouting trip Saturday so hopefully with a number of people out we'll get on them.

Didn't mean to imply that the fish aren't there, and that everybody won't latch onto a kittie, more like I don't know how to catch fish on Long.

In the words of George Costanza: "It's not you, it's me." grin

Bringing Mom's World (well, maybe just local) famous Ranger Cookies. May have an item to contribute to the big cat contest.

Put me down for 2 attendees. Right now it's just me, myself, and I, but am going to try to track down a buddy to bring along.

See ya soon!

No biggie Buzbuni. Just letting you know that there were some cats there and we'll have a starting point. No guarantee they'll still be there though. But if they're not we'll look until we find some. Looking forward to seeing you out there.

Ahhhh, the catfish balls.....only been out on LOW, Red, and Mille Lacs so far....not so many kitties there. Not one of those who will not share recipies, but never really cook with them. So it goes like this.........

1) cook fish, flake, and set aside

2) cook onion, garlic, carrots, bell peppers,celery.....blend...add spices...cajun would be fine

3) dump in a bowl and add beaten egg, bread crumbs, and a little milk till it forms a ball

4) chill in fridge about an hour

5) roll into balls, dip in eggwash, bread, deep fry

6) if that does not work...google fish cake and roll into balls instead smile

DTro, by all means go and whip up some balls, I have some back up rough fish to fry up if needed( walleyes, sauger, crappies, perch)..... although have fished around that area before and have usually done well.

Eric, cool that you and Justine are coming up. We should be ok, provided no one brings the corn hole game shocked

That bait is great deep fried Borch. smile

I seem to recall that a few really enjoyed it covered in beer batter fried to a golden brown. Just gotta stand back a bit as it likes to "POP" when you fry it.

Count me in guys. I'm a rookie at this event so if I need to eat some cut bait for initiation please let me know so I can choose a proper beverage to wash it down with it. I'll bring some tortilla chips and homemade salsa.
