Which one of you was just off hwy 10 in royalton trying to execute a deer with your knife?!?!

A co-worker saw someone last night just off hwy 10 in royalton (right between the gas stations) wrestling with a young buck. He said it looked like he was trying to bleed it out. He assumes it was hit by a car.

By the looks of it, the buck was fighting the guy pretty hard. He was sure there would be a story in today's paper about the guy either stabbing himself or being gored by the deer.

Wasn't me, but I've been tempted before. Last year I saw one get hit by a car in front of me. Looked like it had a pair of broken legs the way it was thrashing around in the ditch. I stopped and waited a couple minutes. Figured if it didn't get up or die within that time, I'd help it meet its maker with less suffering. Right as I was about to get out of the truck, it hoped up and hobbled away.

Funny hearing the stories about deer people walk up to a deer thinking they are dead, only to find themselves bronco busting the thing.

I dispatched a car hit deer once with a shovel. Horrible experience. Those things are tough. Once I started I could not stop. I had to wait for a break in the cars to wack it on the head, meanwhile it was trying to crawl away on one leg across busy HWY 10 near moorhead and it was pretty dark. I did not want another car to hit it. I ended up putting a chain around it and dragging it back in the woods out of site and then finish it off.

I hit a big doe one night coming home from fishing. After I got out and made sure there wasn't too much damage to my truck and boat, I figured I better drag her off the road so no other car hit her and caused an accident (it was late at night). Walked up to her and grabbed her back leg, and found out that I apparently just knocked her out and her cue to wake up was my hand around her leg. Scared the pebbles right out of me as she was bellering trying to escape.

After she tried kicking me, I let go, fell on my rump in the road and she ran off like nothing was wrong with her. I am just glad I was being semi careful instead of showing off to the girlfriend that was with me and doing something really stupid.
