Going on my 4th year with my cabelas infernos, feet have yet to get cold, got a back up pair from the bargain cave for $60, they have been sittin around for almost 2 years now.

+1 Had my first full season with mine last year and they are great. Less than $150.00 for 2000 grams of Thinsulated bliss. Snowmobiling, plowing, standing in ice water or kicking open skimmed over ice fishing holes and my feet haven't been cold yet. Feet don't sweat either. Just wear a good pair of socks, I use a nice Smartwool.

Bass, I have had 1000 gram rubber boots for the last 4 years and will never go back to regular boots. Your feet and pants will NEVER get wet and they are plenty warm, no need to tie when gloves are on or anything like that. And as long as you get a thicker sole, your feet are off the ice quite a bit. Like I said, I will never go back to normal boots...

Go with a size 12 for sure. More room = warmer, always. The Predator Extremes from the big C are $150 right now. I'm happy with the pair I have but would have went with the higher end ones if they had them when I ordered mine. Warm boots.

I like Micky Mouse boots. The white "bunny" boots have more insulation and are warmer than the black ones. The "bunny" boots are a little bit heavier tho.

I have heard great things about Cabela's Trans-Alaska III Pack Boots. A lot of mushers use them up here in the Ely. The are big and bulky but very warm.

I bought some Sorel's last year on clearance. Not sure what model but they are the really tall ones that look like they would be a little cumbersome. I usually don't like these type of boots but like you my feet tend to get cold so I tried them on. They are extremely warm, the sole has a really thick cushion so I can stand on them all day, and they are really light. I'm not talking as in light for that size of boot either, I'm talking light as far as any boot goes. I was really surprised. Didn't think I would like how tall they are but I tuck my pants in them and my ice armor bibs on the outside just keeps everything warm!

I am curious if anyone cares where things are made? You can get PAC boots and other good cold weather boots from Hoffman boots, Whites boots, and Nicks boots as well as Russel boots from Wisconsin. Most PAC boots can be had from between 150 and 200, MADE IN USA and customer service is unbelievable. I emailed Hoffman boots with a question and the OWNER, emailed me back. Also all these boots can be customized with what ever you want. I understand if a boot made by people getting 25 cents an hour make boots 3 times better at half the cost, but we are talking comparable quality. I can call the owner of these boot companies and they will fix any problems, all these boots can be rebuilt, and I can pick any feature I want in my boot and thy cn add it.

People always complain things ate not made here anymore and this is why.

Woody Max by the Muck Boot Company. Warm, knee high, totally waterproof, fairly lightweight, very comfortable, & good tread with the soles being thick enough to put ATV tire studs around the edges when that early spring thaw/re-freeze ice sends most people sprawling.

DO NOT wear them into the house on a hardwood floor if you install the studs, or we'll need to start a "Killed by Wife" thread!!!! grin

Great all around boot. Hunting and Ice fishing. Yaktraks are made for them too! I havent wore my pac boots since i bought the mucs 7 years ago!

I have a couple pairs of Mickeys and loved them until I picked up a pair of Baffin Impacts last year at Gander in Baxter. They were 20% off and I had another coupon for an additional 20% off. I stole them for under $100! They are a little bulky and hard to find ice cleats that fit them, but they are just as warm, if not warmer, than my old Mickeys. They are extremely lightweight and they feel like you are walking on a pillow. I heard people complain they weren't waterproof, but late ice last year I had no issues of wet feet after walking through water. I have tried Cabela's boots, Lacrosse and Irish Setter before I thought I was set on Mickeys. That was until put on my Baffins.

Cabelas Trans Alaska are by far the best all around warmest boot out there. Yes they are bulky but not to heavy they have 3" of insulation below your foot and cinch up to your foot like a sneaker. I walked around lakes with no problem. PLUS They are on sale right now. Oh and forgot to mention that they are 100% waterproof.

For 2 years I spent tons of money on good boots from Whitetail Extremes, Pac Boots, etc finally settled down on the Irish Setter Exo Flex Boots. They are a hybrid of some sort of rubber and neoprene. 1000g insulation is whats in them and man they are warm but yet breathe. I wear them year round for mudding with the wheelers, duck hunting, and ice fishing. Best part about it is they come up half way up the shin are water proof as can be. Really comfortable as well, and if I can remember right they were not that much compared to other well insulated boots.

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.

      I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.

      reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
