What do you wear to stay warm?

U/A baclava. That is a must, as it is warm, not bulky, and I can still wear my normal baseball cap over it smile Best thing I got since my A/A.

Also have a knock off U/A 1/4 zip from Gander that works great as base layer. Then I might bring a fleece over that, or my old Dickies zippered hoodie, as the A/A jacket is often too warm, but just fleece is too cool is outside.

And I wear my wader pants or just plain poly longies under my bibs. All the warmth I need for my legs, and absolutely no bulk at all.

For below the waste I where Rocky brand thermals (super comfortable and very warm), a pair of gym shorts (extra layer of protection for the hind side), and Strikemaster bibs.

For my upper body I wear the Rocky brand thermals, an insulated flannel shirt, and my Strikemaster jacket. When fishing in the porty I hang the jacket on one of those Frabil velcro hooks. If I was going on a long/serious trip I'd probably leave the flanel behind since the outer shell is cotton.

I've also learned to keep the jacket unzipped unless you're sitting outside or you'll be sweating in no time, no matter how cold it is outside. If I'm walking out I usually don't even wear the coat...I just put it in my sled with the rest of my gear.

For anybody still wearing the old white poly long johns - be aware that there are much warmer and more comfortable options out there now days. I recently "saw the light" last year after receiving the Rocky's as a gift.

I use my SnoSuit, the original, Made in Crosslake Mn version. I have yet to get cold. I even had a guy poke his head out of his shelter to let me know that it was -20, I had no idea.

Ditto. I love my snosuit. Also wear some lightweight poly long underwear top and bottoms...silk liner socks and smartwool socks..Muck boots, or 2000gram cabelas boots, baclava, wool hat, snowboard goggles and some gortex mittens, or just wool liners.

Base layer - Lightweight fleece pants and long sleeve fleece pull-over shirt. This stuff is made for a base layer for hunting and for wear under waders. I don't like poly anything. Makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a bag after a couple of hours.

Hoody sweat shirt - A very versatile second layer

Clam Ice Armor X suit - In warmer weather I sometimes wear gortex ski pants over heavier fleece pants and the Ice Armor Jacket. If you need more to stay warm its time to get off the ice.

Clam Ice Armor Mits - I recommend these gloves for anyone. I have three pair.

Fingerless wool gloves for use in the house and for short trip out of the tent. I have several pair because they get wet.

Various hats depending on the season.

Rocky pacs for boots.

Fleece neck warmer.

Don't forget the sunglasses.

I wear the Frabill snosuit. This is hands down the warmest suit I have warn. I have been in 25 below and blowing 20+ and this is for 8 hours of fishing and didn't get cold. They are worth the weight in gold!!! I also team them up with u/a and mickey mouse boots.

Ushanka for my head, vexilar suit, thrift store merino wool sweaters, wool long johns for my legs and my 20 year old Sorels. I can sit on a bucket with my back to the wind in below zero temps. When I hop in the shack I just pull off my hat and or coat.
