Bear Recipies-

Guy's,

Ok I have been lurking on the deer bear forum this season. But I managed to get my first bear. I have to write up a story on it and include a pic.

I was priveleged to shoot a really nice boar that dressed out at #253 lbs.

Now to the good eating part. I have a package of backstraps/ chops thawing out in the fridge and I am having my first bear ever.

Help me out and tell me how you would cook it.

Thanks

Steve

I just grilled up some straps last week and the other day we had 2 flat steaks. Both were marinated in honey BBQ sauce for 30 mins. and grilled to medium. Very delicious... melted in the mouth!

Nothing better than some good bear roast too. I look forward to bear roast every year...

Fixed it for ya. wink

Roasts, roasts and more roasts. Make sure you sear them first, then slow cook in a crock-pot with onions, potatoes and carrots. Steak out the back straps. Put the rest in hamburger. Go to Walmart and grab the box of bacon trimmings, about ten lbs. Get out your grinder, throw in a chunk of bear meat and a chunk of bacon, chunk of bear meat, chunk of bacon. Oh my, you feel like a king. Bear burger by itself is phenomenal, but add some bacon? I'd turn down my wife for a bear bacon burger. Searing roast or stew meat is a must. Locks in juices and flavor. Happy eating. Boar
