Weber vs Tebow

Bet you never thought you would read that headline!!!

Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports got some some eye-opening quotes from various members of the Broncos organization that will make waves in Denver.

“If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy,” one source told Silver. “Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, and Tebow’s way behind [brady] Quinn, too. And I’m telling you, Adam Weber is flat-out better right now.”

Weber, an undrafted rookie, has no chance to actually pass Tebow on the depth chart. But Weber has looked impressive when given the chance, and Tebow is struggling to work under center or grasp a pro offense.

I believe it, Tebows QB skills were questioned before he was even drafted. He reminded alot of people of Crouch. Personally, I still think Cam Newton is going to be a huge flop as well.

Just read an article that said of the last 15 QB's that have won the Heisman, only three (Testaverde, Palmer, Bradford) have gone on to be serviceable starting QB's. And three undrafted QB's (Moon, Warner, Romo) have had as good or better careers.

I think Newton will flop as well.

Hope Weber can pull it out and at least get on the practice squad, seemed like a good kid.

I have never liked tebow and never will hope to see weber show him up. I dont think newton will flop i think he will be an average QB in the nfl

Anyone who sees these glorified RB's play in college and think somehow they can change that will translate to the NFL are dreaming. You cannot be successful at the next level by making 1 read and then pulling the ball down and running. I would not be surprised to see several of the top QB's drafted this year have the same problem.

Someone go back and find all of my posts where I stated that Weber could play in the NFL. Granted, he hasn't done anything yet but it's a start! No surprise here.

Weber was signed to the practice squad, so wanted to give him a big Congrats. That's better than a lot of people thought he was going to do.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a fair shot at knocking off Tebow & Quinn as the backups next year. There is a reason they kept a 4th QB on the roster!!

+1. Wouldn't take too much to outplay Tebow or Quinn though...which I heard he did do.

Broncos will probably try to get anything they can for Quinn (good luck)...and then maybe move Weber up to the #3 spot.

Weber is a good guy, with great character and some skills. From everything I hear is that if it wasn't for Brewster the Gopher offense could've been something real special.

I had the opportunity to chat a bit with Weber at Eric Decker's First Annual Golf Tournament this summer (before he was signed by the Broncos) and everything I just mentioned held true. Best of luck to him, Decker and the Broncos!

BuckmasterG - I agree whole-heartily. Weber looked really good as a freshman and was starting to develop and still turned into a decent QB, but was hampered by having a new OC and new scheme EVERY SEASON of his college career. As I've stated before, Brewster's worst attribute was that he couldn't develop players and make them better. Weber had more room to grow and I think that he'll get that on the Bronco's practice squad. He may never start in the NFL but he can be an effective backup.

Smart move to keep Weber on the practice squad. Quinn and Orton are free agents next year. Denver is going to be looking for a new trio of QBs next year.
