Lowest profile reel out there?

Who has the lowest profile reel out there right now. This is for my wife. she loves her corados but the frames are just to big for her hands. I thought I seen a shimano 50 at one time are they still made?

Any ideas where we should start?

Hiya -

The Curado 50E is a good option, and also on clearance right now. Would be a very good option if she already likes the Curado.

look at the okuma's BC's. a friend of mine has the cayennne and its a really small low profile reel. he said its a pretty decent reel over all and comes with ABEC 5 bearings stock. all i did was palm it but didn't fish with it. it felt much smaller than my curado e7's.

maybe check out Okuma's Serrano BC also...

If you can find a Sol, they're sweet little reels. Same for a JDM Shimano Scorpion 1000.

Re: Steez, and the like. I was in the booth of major reel manufacturer at ICAST a few years back, and I asked their main reel designer what the real difference was between their $600 reel and their $100 reel. He shrugged and said "500 bucks."

High end reels are nice, but no way on God's green earth I'd pay $600 for a reel. 2c

Cheers,

RK

I've been fishing with two of the Serrano SR-200's for a couple of months now. Great reel, light and it has taken all the punishment I dished out. Quite a bit smaller than the Quantums Tours that I have. The only reel that I have similar in size to the Serrano's is a Calcutta 50.
