LMITOUT
Did you happen to see the double coverage with the safety there for help? Any decent safety makes that interception all day long, instead of doing some goofy back peddle and jumping backwards to catch it. Poor decision. We'll just have to wait to see if he corrects those mistakes when the games count.
james_walleye
Ya and the double coverage was beat. He had both guys beat and if the ball is out in front rather than 2 yards short its not even close. I would think someone that claims to watch football would realize in the NFL that Berrian was considered wide open and you better not pass up the opportunity at an easy 6. The only reason the safety was even allowed to make an awkward play on the ball is because Mcnabb underthrew it and put it to far to the middle at that. The proper throw and the safety doesn't get within 2 yards of Berrian.
LMITOUT
I would just suggest that you watch it again and that's all I'm going to say, but it appears that you are agreeing with my assessment of McNabbs poor decision in that he can't throw it like he thinks he can and needs to realize he ain't 25 anymore. Otherwise those hail mary type passes are going to kill any chance the team has at winning meaningful games.
james_walleye
I suggest u put down the purple haterade, wait 2 hours, then YouTube it. Particularly the reply portion where Berrian beats the corner running just inside the numbers but ends up closer to the hash to get the ball. If the ball is thrown to the numbers its not close. And don't pretend as if Mcnabb can't throw the ball 50 yards downfield anymore. The decision was right on, the throw wasn't. Clear as a bell on the replay. Hail mary.....yet the receiver has 2 steps oncoverage. Good stuff........but I'm left wondering once again why I feed into your bit.
Scott K
Quote: Good stuff........but I'm left wondering once again why I feed into your bit. ha ha, I fell to it a few weeks back myself. Now I get to watch his next victim (you) fall prey to his trolling, and chuckle.
LMITOUT
I dont think I'm the one trolling here, Scott. Just calling it like I see it...and I just saw it again on NFLN moments ago and it was worse than I had thought. That safety had an easy INT and simply blew it. Like they say, that's why they're DBs and not WRs.
james_walleye
Of course he blew it, my god man. The ball was thrown 3 yards short and 4 yards to the right of where it should have lol. He missed an open receiver which allowed the safety an opportunity to make a play. Haha I'm done with this. There is no way you can watch the YouTube clip of Berrians route and not see that the throw was offline and it had nothing to do with his decision to throw it. Scott K
I will add the pass was way under thrown, if McNabb would have had BB on stride, it would have been a great play. But Lmit, your still a troll

flipper
Could just as well have been picked. That is the kind of throw you expect if he were being rushed, he had all day.

PierBridge
For the 15th million-ith time. LMITOUT is a disgruntled Viking fan, one of the many we have here in the great state of Minnesota! I do find the McNabb to T-Jack comparison a bit insane to say the least. Maybe some day but just not yet for T~$~Money~
PurpleFloyd
If you look at the video though it is clear that NcNabb displayed the mechanics that have given his coaches fits over the years. He had the time to step into the throw and use his legs to drive the pass forward and that would have given him the distance to get past that safety but he threw flat footed and used only his upper body on that pass. It worked but it certainly wouldn't have worked against every safety. Glad it did this time though.
flipper
Thank you! I just call em like I see em. McNabb needs to know his limitations. It is his limited ability to throw the long ball accurately that make this a bad decision. With another quarterback it may have been a perfect opportunity. james_walleye
So you are looking for Mcnabb to not stretch the field at all? Ya thats always a great plan of attack in the NFL. Nothing like making things nice, easy, and predictable for a defense.
flipper
It might well be a better strategy than throwing pics. Watch and learn.
zepman
It might well be a better strategy than throwing pics. Watch and learn. McNabb has been historical at not throwing picks in his career...didn't they say on the telecast that he's the 3rd best QB ever in turns of attempts vs picks. This whole discussion is stupid...it's like saying AP gained 15 yards on a run that he broke 4 tackles...yet he should only be credited for 3 yards because of the missed tackles. Scott K
I think you are all nuts and looking to much into a pass in a preseason game. I am far from a McNabb fan, nad would have liked to see the youngsters dual it out this year fo the starting position. But to call the QB a wash up because of a under thrown pass in a preseason game, is a little early, I think.
FISHINGURU
Cry me a river, it was a good decision and ended up a nice play. Boo hoo, even it it was picked it would of been like a punt. I don't know about you lilly's but I like when QB's drop bombs.
